As I finish models from my CSM army I'll be posting them here.

I'm leaving this guy un-based until I get around to doing all the bases as I get close to finishing the army..

I'd love to have your feedback.

At first I thought it was just basecoated grey, then I realised the highlights were very subtle. It really blurs the line between the mechanical and the flesh parts. What method did you use to shade the edges of the armour plates?

@Flame Boy, the armour plates were airbrushed, dark grey green over a black basecoat leaving a thin edge of undercoat showing at the edges, then a coat of light grey green slightly expanding the margin. There's no wash or anything else to get that effect, just being careful with the airbrush.

Helbrute is done. Next up will be a Helldrake, which just needs to be finished basing.

Please, feel free to comment.

You absolutely have to do a video or step by step tutorial, I've been looking for a subtle scheme like this. Great work!

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

I finished this Helldrake a while ago but have been lazy about posting it.

Regardless of what many people seem to be saying, I really like the model. It takes ages to paint because of all the surface area, but it's worth the effort!

Can't wait to get out there and barbecue some MEQs!

Thanks for looking.

How do you achieve that colour if you don't mind me asking?

These look so badass even if they don't have "pretty" colors

Very subtle colours you have there. I might be tempted to throw in some accent colours just to break things up and make them pop.

A rusty orange would look awesome on these guys either as squad markings or "warpaint" stripes etc...

However, they do look very nice indeed.

Thanks! I agree about some accent colours, it's something I'm bearing in mind for when I get around to working on my infantry. Orange 'warpaint' stripes could definitely work, especially as the marine models don't have the fleshy parts that these bio-mech vehicles do and thus be in more need of the contrast.

I've also tried doing subtle rusting effects on the armour, using paint and orange powder. I think I got it right on the Forgefiend, but under-did it on the Helldrake.

Well, they are Chaos, after all! I'll leave the 'pretty' colours to the loyalists!

When I find the time I'm going to get my Obliterators finished. Check back in a week or so!

I really like your choice of a rather subtle color palette. I think it works really well. The weathering is solid too, and this is one of the few Forgefiends that I've looked at painted and it's made me really really liked the model.

Everything looks great, keep up the good work!

Woops, two months since I put up the Heldrake...too much time spend painting other people's models!

So I got around to finishing off half of a squad and a Rhino to go with them. Don't be too harsh on me about the Rhino, I deliberately didn't put too much effort into it.

I hope you'll enjoy.

Great looking work. It inspires me to start my own CSM army. I really like how realistic the metallics and muted colors look. Excellent work!
