What does 3D6 or 2D6 or 3D mean?

You see it in your post right now if you move your mouse over the yellow terms.

About the 3D it could mean two things. Either it's a short form of 3D6 as this is the most common die or it could be that you actually wanted to write D3 which is used do refer to three-sided dice. As such things do not exist you roll a D6 and divide the result by 2 while rounding up. This means a roll of 1 or 2 on the D6 stands for a 1 on a D3, 3 and 4 for 2 and 5 and 6 for 3.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

Ok, first, this is the absolute wrong section to post this thread in, please read all stickies at the top of each section for posting guidelines of each particular section.

Second, a d6 means one 6 sided dice roll. so 3d6 means roll 3 dice, 4d6 roll 4 and so on and so on.

A d20 or d10 means a 20 sided or 10 sided die. For a d3 you can just use a D6 and say 1-2 = 1, 3-4 = 2, 5-6 = 3.

Locking this up now as you will be able to see the answer, but again, please be more careful about making sure you are posting in the right place!

Cheers -
