Ok so im running a chaos Khorne lord on a jugger with sigil and black mace do you all think its worth it for the extra points its like 15 to carry around a power axe just in case some sort of 2+ save unit just takes him out and makes me cry? i mean if im already paying 180 should i atleast give him some sort of protection?

I'd give him the Axe instead of the Mace. Its a better weapon for his setup.
I'd only ever give the Mace to a Daemon Prince.

If you're worried about not being able to kill a target with the black mace, then you really shouldn't be charging it. That said, if you have the points to buy an axe and want one, it gives you that extra killy power which can be a really good thing, or a waste of points.
Personally, when I run the black mace, it's on my raptor lord. Normally the only lord I take with an axe on top of another weapon is my terminator armored murder sword guy. Gives him all the killy power.

GoliothOnline wrote: As grey stated, the Black Mace is nice, but not necessary on a Lord when you consider that giving one to a Prince would make a better setup.
Give him the Axe of Blind Fury, and allow him to cleave some heads at better rates for a cheaper cost
Then you can give him a combat familiar for giggles!
Well in the list im running i already have another jugger lord with the axe of blind fury lol and i dont have the points for a prince with black mace.
Automatically Appended Next Post: The plan with the list was if i need marines killed i would send the jugger with Axe of blind fury in and if there was a big blob of guardsmen that all really look like they want to take toughness tests and get massacered or even against monsterous creatures.

I agree that you should tailor your army to be able to deal with the possibility of needing Marines killed, but I would suggest you have more than 1 option for doing so.
Having 2 greatly increases your ability to guarantee that you're going to kill heavily armored infantry. And simply having them doesnt mean that you arent going to slaughter those pesky IG

I love the black mace, even against termies, though for a juggernaught lord, take the axe of blind fury. You'll get the same volume of attacks, but it'll be at AP 2. Any other lord though, I'd say the mace is a good investment. The sheer amount of attacks you can dish out, even with just an average roll makes it pretty easy to get through at least one terminator. Once one takes a wound, any other marine within 3" has a 1/3 chance to take a wound on the spot. I have absolutely destroyed loyalist squads with the black mace.

I'd actually maybe drop the second Jugger lord in favor of a unit of Spawn to go with the first. They are a durable layer of protection for your lord, and they move at the same speed as him.
As another note, you are perhaps a little light on scoring units, especially since cultists are not the most durable units in the world. I would suggest seeing if you could cut something to make room for a squad or two of Chaos Space Marines.

Dont mix plasma and metla, In fact, never mix weapons in CCS and Vet squads.
Each weapon has a different use and optimum range, if you are going to get in close to use those meltas, you might as well go full melta on the vets. Also, metla doesnt kill you.
