I've liked the 40k 'verse for a while now, though not as long as a lot of people here, and my tastes in my favorite faction has changed alot over the years. It went fomr being eldar when i first started, then necrons and finally ive settled into Space Marines (because of how organized and modular the army is) and Orks (because they are fun as ).

I've gotten curious as to what are my fellow dakkanaughts tastes in army and what sparked that?

Kain on Tzeentch:
The negative so far outweighs the positive that it creates a vicious cycle, with Chaos ensuring more bad things(TM) and largely only bad thigs happen. The fact that the major Xenos are mostly donkey-caves doesn't help, especially since the Imperiumis in turn, a bunch of donkey-caves.
Thus Tzeentch, god of donkey-caves, is the most generally successful. Because out of this huge pile of donkey-caves, none are more dickish than the great blue Jerk.

Where are the craftworld eldar?
I think you'll find they are quite clearly the best faction.
FACT.

Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Ordo Malleus, Space Marines and Eldar.

Ordo Malleus : Because unsung and unknown heros also need praise

Space Marines : Noting says power like a immensly tall and powerful warrior clad in tank armor killing of enemies.

Eldar : Because Elfs in space is awesome

FETH I totally spaced of the CE

Thank you though

I am fond of the CE myself, but I just dont like them as much as Orks and Spess Mehrens

Ordo Malleus is pretty cool but i kind of prefer the Ordo Xenos, the stuff they do makes them unsung heroes in their own right, and a little less OTT in my opinion

I originally started out with the Inquisition. The first books I read were Eisenhorn and Ravenor, then I got the Grey Knight omnibus and was in love. Plus, they look like badasses.

I play chaos now, and they're pretty badass as well. Papa Nurgle was my favorite god, and Plague Marines are awesome as well. Slow, ponderous, and unrelenting, the bloated corpses of fallen Space Marines stumble forward into the enemy, either unaware or uncaring of how much damage they're taking. Then, the Plaguefather would laugh as he unleashes a new strain of toxin onto the planet and blankets it in a layer of death and decay.
I've since switched to Alpha Legion, because they're just awesome in general.

But, the older version of the 'crons was fugging amazing. I loved the idea of ancient T-100 terminator death machines crawling out of the cracks in the earth and laying waste to all that dared invade their tombs, moving as an unstoppable force to harvest life energy for the gods that created them. Newcrons are cool too, but for some reason don't give me the same feeling.

Dark Eldar - Race of super models that pants other factions for being bad, then laugh at them for being bad, then leave.

Trolls in space ftw

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

When I started playing I was deep in that 'I hate society especially my dad' phase some teens go through. I've since grown out of that but Chaos hasn't lost any of its appeal.

@pretre I put the ordos down as they are more inclusive and i didnt want a super long poll. Afterall SOB is the militant arm of the ordo Hereticus iirc, Deathwatch of the ordo xenos and grey knights of the ordo malleus. As for the chapters I welcome people putting down theyre favorite chapters, but with a few dozen popular chapters and many more i didn't want a super long poll. :( Apologies if I offended.

Yeah, that's not correct anymore. A lot of things changed with 6th edition. Grey Knights are basically the militant order for all the orders now. Sisters are back to being the army of the Ecclesiarchy (as they should be).

The Ordos should be folded into an 'Inquisition' choice.

They are just the most interesting and dynamic army in the game.
Sure, they aren't all extra grimdark and "awesome" in the 16yr old sense, but I believe they provide the most bang for the buck in terms of all the things this game has to offer.

I had to go with "Other" since I consider the Space Wolves to be only barely Space Marines. Physiologically, they are Astartes, but they issues with the Eccesiarchy and Inquisition means they're only borderline loyal to the High Lords.

Because they are ninjas... they are pirates... they have magic.... they have a tragic past, but embrace what they are completely and because they have a plan to spit in the eye of slanesh.. see Harlequins. C'mon they have deadly murderface clowns on their side. No but really, their fluff isn't about the best of the best of the best being everyone in their "chapter". They are cunning and although no one questions that they are not ruling the galaxy they still fly the stars with some of the most advanced technology and are the gatekeepers of the Webway. Someone tell me that Incubi are not 10 kinds of awesome?
