So Ive been getting into model building more and more and I have to say, the 40k models are great looking. I have a local hobby shop that hosts games weekly, so im looking at slowly building up an army over time. I think it would be fun for my models to have a game aspect as well!

However Im just getting into 40k (but not miniature modeling) and I cant decide on an army...
After watching some battle reports I think I would like the Space Marines or Tau..... I like the look of the Necron troops but hate the vehicles.

Anyway of those choices, which would you suggest?

Any tips on which units to buy first so I can get gaming?

Im looking to build this army up slowly, so I dont need some big box with every model at once.

PS: Ive been looking around this forum and have to say that everyone seems helpful and Im glad to be joining the forum and the hobby!

Welcome. See if you can get into a couple of games where you can run a couple of units so that you get a feel for how they play and then make a decision.

Welcome. It depends on what you like to fight with, Tau are great for shooting but are lacking in close combat, space marines are good for all around ( either shooting, combat or both), and Necrons are kinda the same as space marines. personally I like Necrons
