So, it looks like you don't actually get 5 lootas wiff deffguns in the GW box. Instead, they graciously provide a mek. Do people simply play the mek counts-as a fifth loota for the squad, or are there conversion alternatives in the box to help him blend in with his brothers? I really don't intend to buy 4 boxes to get the maxed unit size. Or am I totally out of bounds and meks serve a vital purpose in a unit of Lootas?

People usually just put a big shoota with extra bits/gubbins, or any other big gun they like (looted from your bits box or traded from any heavy weapons not being used by your friends) on him.

Put the meks with a big shoota.

Put them with Lootas in a Battlewagon.

Roll around shooting stuff while the meks either shoot or repair the BW.

Or just make a burna from him, and get multiple boxes. Eventually you will have 20 lootas and 5 burnas..

i just use counts as with my meks from the loota box...

Then again, i couldnt figure out how to put the arms on the mek while holding the guns it comes with, with it actually working properly... so all my meks are armless :/

Do what I did: find someone who's actually building Burnas and trade.

You put them on the same way as any other Ork arms, I fail to see the issue. They even fit on Nob bodies without any problems.

Convert him up into a loota. You have spare guns lying around, be they Orky, Imperial, or what have you. Just slap em together, it's basically all the Orks do!

because the arms that i got in my 6 boxes of lootas, the gun arm fits on fine, but the other arm thats meant to support the gun by holding it, doesnt reach far enough...

Make him a burna. You want those for your battlewagon of fire anyway. Right?

Most people just convert them. Or just build the big mek with a big shoota. 3 meks in a BW with a chance to repair 3 hull points a turn is damn good.

The fact that you only get the parts for 4 lootas kinda blows...but you also get the parts for 4 burnas..When I buy a box I always get some extra bits to also build to build the burnas so the box is a pretty good deal.

Dude, it's an ORK. As long as you believe he's a loota, then he'll be a loota.

Thanks for the comments. I guess I'll just do a little conversion work and make the Mek a Loota. Still irritating. Extra bitz are fine and dandy, but I still want the kit to produce the max number of models that I'm purchasing it for.

Just take the kustom mega blasta, add some shooty bitz and gubbinz to it, give him an ammo backpack, and bam. Got yerself a lotta.

I don't want to belabor this, but if you bought a SM Tactical Squad and the tenth guy was a "veteran sergeant with a storm bolter," forcing you to kitbash him back to the base squad option, you'd probably carp a bit, too. The codex description is 5-15 Lootas, not 4 Lootas plus 1 Mek.

Except thats a perfectly legal composition of the unit too. In fact, it's more fluffy, since lootas are often lead by a mek (almost like a sarge if you will)

I mean, I hate it too, but if GW didn't include that mek in the kit, then you wouldn't have any way to field an actual regular mek unless you bought metal ones (or Mork forbid, finecast)

And that sprue is pretty packed as is. If you can find a spot to shove a 5th deffgun and burna, you'd earn a tip of the hat from me.

It wouldn't be an issue if the Mek could be assembled as a Loota as well. That main issue is everybody wants big Loota Squads, and at most you would only want/need one mek. So its still to force people to make him as a Mek.

Fortunatly every ork player should have a massive bits box for rummaging and kustomizing a nice shoota for the 5th loota. All ork players are almost required by law to play other armies just for da bitz Or at least steal all your friends bitz.
