I had a some of horribly painted and badly modded models(mostly Catachan and space marine).A bath in Simple Green and a repaint could not save them, too much damage was done due to the horrible body armor I made them in green stuff. So I was Thinking to get rid of them maybe just throw them to the trash. Then I decide to give these a second life! My skill with green stuff having improved since I butchered them why not give it a try. I decide to convert them into plague marine and nurgle renegade guard. Nurgle theme seem the obivious choice since its more easy to add some dirt and rag then try to clean them up

Unfortunately when i started this project I wasn't sure if the result would be acceptable so i did not take the time to take picture during the process. It's a shame i think it would have been interesting because im pretty proud of the result and I think its a good way to save old model. But I only got four space marine and i need at least seven of them and rencetly bougth a lot of badly painted ultramarine on ebay I intend to corrupt them doing so i want to make a complete tutorial on the conversion. So i may post a tutorail soon. But enought blabing here are my nurgle troop:

my sniper team:

Renegade guard:

They look great, very nurgle!

A great second life for otherwise unusable models.

I must admit I too wish you had taken some before and WIP photos, I would like to of seen how you made these.

Shame no before pics because the converts look brilliant. I'm useless with GS, the liquid stuff is a boon for me :p

Lots of nicely paint blood, rot and rust!

Aaargh these are sooo cool!!! I love the way the eyes pop out on the troopers haha. An interesting nurgle scheme, and that brown and green must be pretty easy to paint, while still looking awesome! Very cool. Can't wait to see a full army!

Excellent Nurgle crew! The color scheme is simple and yet totally effective and quite dynamic. The reds (at least in the photos here) are excellent!

You're one of the first I see doing blood right. Especially the blood on the Dreadnought. Very cool!

It's pretty easy to make just apply red paint with a sponge, then cover with gloss medium to give that wet look

This is a lesson to anyone who wants to play 40k but can't afford the frankly astronomical prices - get on eBay and resurrect some minger-marines!

Well done OP, credit crunch friendly gaming. Might have a go at this myself when I have some time

They look GREAT! A really effective colour scheme and a very characterful army. Even if they were new models, the compliments would be the same, so the fact that they have been salvaged from second hand minitures is even better.

Make some tutorials when the next batch come in.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)
