If I have a piece of terrain that is a wall and a unit has 2 models infront of the wall with 5 models behind the wall still in coherency, but the wall is solid and high enough that nothing can see the 5 models behind it. Can a the opposing player position the flamer and hit the guys behind the wall while attacking the squad via the 2 infront.

Can any wounds be allocated to the models behind the wall?

Are they protected by the out of sight rule on pg 16?

You can only hurt models out of LOS if the weapon has a rule that specifically allows it.

How did they even get the unit placed like that?
Otherwise, not sure. I'd think though that another thing to think about is how that happened. That seems very impossible

In the case of buildings and transports they have special rules that give certain weapons the ability to harm models that can't be seen as well.

There are all sorts of ways for that to happen. Move the unit up to the end of the wall, half the unit moves one side of it, the other half moves the other side.

Or just deployed that way from the beginning.

If the wall is a part of a ruin, the unit could just be half moved out, since they can just walk through the wall.

That's three ways just straight off the top of my head.

The units out of sight can be used to generate additional hits and wounds, but said wounds cannot be allocated to them.

Wait, so in the extreme instance that there's only one model out, the rest are behind the wall, if I flame them, I count all the hits and wounds from the number under the template? But simply can't allocate to them?

Yes you can hit them but they must be in LoS to allocate a wound to them.

Must be in line of sight to anyone in your squad. Wounds are by unit, not by model.

If the flamer guy can see anyone, he can fire.
Wounds are taken on the closest model that anybody in your unit can draw line of sight to.
So a guy with a flamer could see 1 model on the 1st story, and fire into the 2nd story to maximize hits.
Failed saves would be taken starting with the closest model in line of sight, so if other members of the squad had line of sight to the 2nd floor, they could be killed.

Which would be fine but the OP said two models in sight 5 out of sight..... hence no allocation to models out of LoS.

Rules are on page 16, Out of Sight. No ambiguity to that rule (just the out of range rule, when you mix up subjectbject)
