I know 2 hq's count as one hq slot for space wolves but does this rule apply for space wolf allies? The rules in the book say only one hq. Thr rules of that codex allow 2 hq's for one slot. So which is it?

Well yes, as it is still 1 HQ slot, and wolves get two HQs per slot.

That is not what the rules say.

What it actually says is that a space wolf army gets 2 hq's per slot and there is no clarification on what a space wolf army is.
It could be just the primary detachment, any detachment or even an army of just space wolves.

*sigh.

I leave Dakka for 6 months and when I come back, people are still arguing about this one.

Having read through both threads and the BRB 'Choosing your army section' waiting for an FAQ would be the best solution for RAW, as RAW is unclear
