Did anyone try to use varnish instead of primer?

I would like to prime a mini in a specific color i have to mix myself
and dont want to many layers of color.

Any help or suggestions are welcome ^_^

Not sure how well that would work, probably depends on the Varnish, but as a general statement you don't want to paint over it because it's a little thicker than primer and may cause the paint to lay funny.

I bought some white gesso acrylic primer that is pretty good, you can mix other colours with it and it still binds really well to the plastic/metal surface.

just don't try to airbrush it on... trust me...
