Subject: Using Volkite Weapons to proxy as plasma guns?

Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

Hey Dakka. I'm working on plans for a 31st millenium (during, and post-heresy) army, and was wondering if anyone would object to me using the FW volkite weapons to proxy for plasma guns. I just like the look of volkite weapons a lot more than GW's plasma offerings, and they seemed relatively similar in overall design, so I don't think i would be a problem, but I want to be sure.
Edit: I should point out that I will not be using the Legion rules if that makes a difference. I will most likely be using the new DA codex once it gets shipped to me.

As long as you're consistent and make it clear to your opponent what the weapons represent you will be fine. Go for it, but remember to post pics

Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Yeah, I would say that you just need to declare it to your opponent what they are, if it's not already clear, the volkite do look a bit different but as of yet I have not seen FW with a "Heresy Era" Plasmagun model, I am in the process of building Sons Of Horus with all FW models, so I looked extensively, and this thought did also cross my mind as I like the Volkites.

"You are like a son and together we have all but conquered the galaxy. Now the time has come for me to retire to Terra. My work as a soldier is done and now passes to you for I have great tasks to perform in my earthly sanctum. I name you Warmaster and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from mine own mouth. But words of caution I have for you for your brother Primarchs are strong of will, of thought and of action.

Using Object Source Lighting

I haven't seen the rules, but, since there are no rules for them outside of FW, WYSIWYG doesn't really apply, and they're aesthetically close enough that I'd recognize them as plasma at a glance.
...In short, yes, I think that would be fine.
