February 9th @ Redcap's Corner
1,250 Pt. Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Tournament
Location: Redcap's Corner, 3617 Lancaster Ave., First Floor, Philadelphia,
PA 19104.
Schedule: 11:00AM store opening, 11:45AM round one pairings posted so people can begin setting up their armies, 12:00PM-2:30PM first round, 2:45PM-5:15PM second round, 5:30PM-6:15PM dinner break, 6:30PM-9:00PM final round.
Cost: $10/player, teams must register together, advance registration is possible in-person.
Army Composition: 1,250 pts./player using normal force organization charts, but with allies disallowed. Teams must use the Allies Matrix on page 113 of the rulebook to figure out how the two players' factions interact, HOWEVER all "Come the Apocalypse" allies should be treated as "Desperate Allies" (effectively allowing any faction to team up with any other faction). Both players' units in desperate alliances can count as scoring and/or denial units, making desperate allies functionally no worse than allies of convenience except for the one eye open rule (which IS still in effect). Each player has a warlord. Each faction treats itself as a "Battle Brother." So, a Tau/Tau team or a Dark Eldar/Dark Eldar team would count as "Battle Brothers," etc.
Rounds: Three rounds, each consisting of two hours of game play, with fifteen minutes per team additional time for deployment.
Models: Models need not be painted, and conversions are totally fine (Forge World, third party, scratch-built, whatever), but proxies are not allowed. If you have questions about whether a model would count as a conversion or a proxy, email us or stop by and ask us. Essentially, you need to make sure your models are equipped and portrayed in a clear and obvious way, but we want your army to look every bit as cool as you want it to!
Scoring: Crushing victories are worth 6 points, victories are worth 5, draws are worth 3, losses are worth 1, and crushed results are worth 0 points.
Special: As with all of our recent
40K events, Forge World non-Apocalypse rules are allowed, but please check with us for approval before the day of the tournament if you plan on using Forge World rules in your list. You are required to own the source of any rules you use and have it with you for reference. Fortifications must be placed on the table somewhere they fit comfortably. We'll try to leave at once space on every table where any type of fortification could fit. In each scenario for this tournament, a team earns Slay the Warlord Victory Points for EACH enemy warlord slain and can earn Linebreaker Victory Points for each player, but the First Blood Victory Point will be awarded only to a single team.
Prizes: Store credit toward purchases at Redcap's Corner, based on tournament attendance, will be awarded to top finishers. This store credit can be used on anything in-store (even future events), and can be used on special orders placed with us, so even if we have nothing in-stock that you're after, you can make requests and we'll do our best to fill them.
