Hey all... starting this up more to keep myself motivated to finish my WoC army. My FLGS is starting an escalation league for fantasy and I wanted in. Low model count makes it feasible to paint stuff in time, though it's going to be pretty tight to keep up with 200 points a week with how I want to paint things. It starts in February, so here goes nothing...

Anyway, here's 3 pics to start. Going to be Tzeentch-marked warriors. Doing these 4 as a test to see if I can manage to paint them reasonably well once fully assembled, or if I'm going to have to paint them in parts and then assemble after. Feedback definitely welcome!

Looks like a good start to me! I wish you luck with this endeavor. I'd never be able to paint 200 points a week.

I really like the bases you've got started! What is that whispy white stuff? I can't wait to see them finished.

Also, it's nice to see Reaper getting some love. They make excellent paint that goes under-apprecited in the wargaming community.

Thanks! Wispy white stuff is probably the model filler putty I used to make feet mesh with gravelly ground flush. I also plan on adding some snow once they're all painted up. That big piece of cork was meant to be a knocked-over tombstone, but the angles didn't work out right to get visible writing on it. Not sure if I can salvage it, but hey, it looks like a neat rock now at least, and it'll make a nice spot to stick an icicle.

I'm in love with Reaper paints, even over Vallejo. The way they flow is fantastic for me. Only thing I don't like is their metallics. Using some VAC for that, and have some Liquid Gold in the mail to do armor details.

Hoping that having another reader will motivate you a bit more to keep going. I play WoC in WFB (when I play, it's been over a year) and always enjoy watching my Knights smash into a unit of (anything). Have you played WoC much yet? If not, I have some advise for what it is worth to you.

Good work so far, keep it up! Subbed and will be watching this thread!

Definitely motivating, thanks!

I haven't actually played with them yet. I used to play fantasy a few years back in 7th as VC then HE. I would be 100% open to any and all advice, particularly in how to make knights work best. I have a box of them waiting for when the league hits the 1k mark!

Thank you!

It's boring in the sense that there's nothing fancy going on, and while I feel really great about how far I've come in a few months I know I have a long way to go when I look at what other people are doing here. That being said, that's part of the fun for me, being able to learn and improve.

They look great as a unit. I love the strong blue you've used for the cloaks. What's up next?

Thanks! My idea is that the main identity of the mark is going to be in the cloaks, so it'll be easy to tell who's where on the table. Easy but hopefully effective.

Next up is Khorne halberdiers, so we'll see how that theory goes.

Considering starting WoC (the new releases caught my eye - they look really cool).

Will definatly check back here for inspiration

After getting caught up in other stuff for a bit, back to painting! Still need to get rid of the bright blue primer areas (gloves/boots, halberd shafts, base needs pigments/snow). But getting there.

Really like the lightning pattern shields.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Like the use of cold colours. Reminds me of White Walkers from GoT for some reason

Thanks! Trying for a warm/cold contrast in fur/cloak, and I've been happy with that so far. Might leave the bases on these a little colder than the Tzeentch ones as well, maybe a bit less brown pigment to go around and see how it works.

Hopefully will finish these Saturday morning before heading out to actually play with them. Knights will be up next!

Halberds done! I'm still not sure if I like the scheme or not, but I figured I'd experiment a little. Overall pretty happy.

Still trying to figure out what mark I want on them! I may do them more 'generic' so I can experiment with them a little in actual games, but not sure yet.

Ok, so no knights after all that. I have some sort of based, but I got distracted by a recent purchase of a Daemon Prince that's been doing me wonders when I proxy him in. I may ditch the knights for Skullcrushers anyway in the end.

Going to see if I can do something really awesome for the prince in the meantime. A nurgle-y base and some sculpting experiments are in order!

Got it assembled and the base started. I plan on green stuffing him with a big Nurgley belly and some sores. I'm considering having a chaosy tentacle or two coming from the crack in the floor, or if I should make it look like acid was dripping from him and ate through the stone.

LIES. This thread is pretty interesting.
Your models are painted very nicely mate. Love the lightening on them shields, maybe weather and blend the capes for added effect but still very nice.
Keep it up.
P.S. Try taking ur pics in front of a white background like paper or something, makes the pics a lot cooler. Then you can do close-ups, epic poses and what nots. Trust me a man knows his wares.

I should really get a little photobox together. Shouldn't be hard. I've just been lazy about it. Heck, I can probably just yank off a side of one of the many cardboard boxes I've got and line it. I'll see about that soon!

Am I the only one who thinks it looks like the Prince pissed himself? I'm sure it won't look like that when painted though. Your warriors look great!

That was the first comment a friend made.

Was debating making it an acid wound running down his leg, but that probably wouldn't help matters. Think I might go with the mutation tentacles coming out of it after all.

And final greenstuffing, painting begins tomorrow.

Pleh, need to fix the color balance of camera with all the white. Makes the base washed out in some. I know the workstation background is way messier and bleh, but they just seem to come out better...
