As we all know one of the biggest issue in out hobby is the ever rising costs. After talking with a friend on Sunday about this subject I asked myself if I could build a 1500 point army that is, viable on the tabletop, costs less than $220, and will look great. The answer was immediate, a Dark Angel pure Deathwing Army!

Here is a quick list I came up with to get to 1500 points:

How can you get all of this stuff for around $220? Belial, the Librarian, and two boxes of Deathwing Command Squads (for all the bits needed for weapons options) will set you back $164.50 at full MSRP. For this army though I am going to be thrifty and buy from an online retailer and get 25% off bringing the cost down to $123.38. We still need to 15 terminators and for them we go to ebay or some other source that breaks down the Dark Vengeance box set. The best price I could find was $16.00 per squad. That brings us to $48 for three squads of terminators. This brings us $171.38 total. I want this army to look good and I have no talent for basing so I am going to buy some resin bases. I will be using Secret Weapon Miniatures bases. At eight dollars per set of five for thirty bases we add 48 dollars to our total. This brings us to a total of $219.38 for the entire army.

Here is the plan. Build, paint, and base a 1500 point Deathwing Terminator Army in 15 days. I have put in orders for all the goods and after everything arrives on Friday I will start building. Check back for updates and for when the clock will start...

It's still only 22 models. You will have trouble with hordes.

Yes. Will have issues vs some armies. But it is pretty solid amd would be fun to play as and against. Good luck.

When you get the $ to beef up your army I would invest in some number of vindicators and a land raider or two.
