Ok first off I just want to say at first some Ork Players are going to hate me for this post but give it chance and read through everything and think about how it would work on the table top then I'd love to hear what you think.

Firstly get rid of Furious charge. Yes you heard me but give me a minute and see what else is comming.

Change the following weapon stats to the following.

Choppa S=User+1 AP- Melee
Big Choppa S=User+2 AP5 Melee, Rending

Ok what this does so far is yes nerf a lot of units on the charge what it does do however is balance out the difference between Slugga & Choppa Boyz. It makes Slugga boyz more dedicated to combat and shootas more dedicated to shooting. So onto the next part

The Power of Waaagh!!!
instead of granting fleet for the turn it is activated all mobs gain Stubborn, Rage & Furious Charge this will give the orks a turn of mass carnage which fluff wise orks should like anyways. All the units that don't have the Waaagh!!! rule like bikes and stomboys will get the new Waaagh!!!

What does everyone think let the hate begin if you like

As part of an overhaul of the Ork Codex, I think that could work really well. Some units are definitely balanced around having Furious Charge though, so it would have to be more than just a band-aid, but rather part of a whole update.

Codex: Eldar Exodites (7th Ed - added 03/23/2015)
Codex: Adeptus Arbites (7th Ed - updated 8/19/2014)
Codex: Hive Spyrers (7th Ed - updated 8/19/2014)
Codex: Genestealer Cult (6th Ed - updated 03/04/2013)

This was really difficult to read. You spent a lot of time making long sentences about how we need to bear with you. Just get to the point.

The idea sounds good, but why do Big choppas get rending? rending usually means small lacerations and punctures that eventually cause a chink in armour - an assault cannon shoots hundreds of small slugs, so as to eventually shred armour.

I think removing furious charge has a far more negative effect than you've really appreciated.

Shoota and Slugga boys are already balanced to their respective roles. Because Shootas like to shoot, they have a better weapon with more range and shots than the Sluggas. Because Sluggas like to chop and stab, they have an extra attack and a crappier weapon.

I think the Ork Codex is the last codex that anyone should be considering rewrites on. Especially for our bread and butter troops unit. It's already really balanced and firmly middle tier.

Why not just make orks S4?

It seems way overdue.

The Ork Codex might be old, but the Ork Codex is still poweful. I do think it needs some changes and the fact that an Ork Boy is as powerful as an Guardsmen in standard combat is ridiculous. Granted, there are tons of other things not well reflected in the rules. Either way, it is definitely a big buff to Orks having Orks get S5 on the charge and Nobs having S6... that's intense.

Try telling that the Genestealers and Harlequins. They don't kill you with a thousand cuts. Their rending claws or harlequins kisses just have a chance to bypass armour.

They bypass the armour by applying immense pressure to a small area, puncturing the armour. The complete opposite of what a Big Choppa would do.

^this

I never said they kill you with 'a thousand cuts' I said rending usually mans small lacerations and punctures. Assault cannons were an example.

Also, one could argue that genestealers do a thousand cuts!

Rending implies some horrific wound to me. Genestealers claws are sickening looking, and appear like they could get between cracks of the armor. Big choppas are massive, and look like if you hit a weaker spot of the armor it would just crush it.

Not sure if 5pts for Rending is fair though. I think i'd rather take that than the PK now lol.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

The idea behind rending on the big choppa is to give feel of the big choppa hitting so hard the Armour has been crushed and the person or Alien inside has been killed due to the mass amount of blunt force trauma. Just imagine that the crushing of the Armour killed the wearer not the fact that big choppa biapassed the Armour all together.

Also keep in mind that rending in combat has beem nerfed slightly with the reacent FAQ's
