I would like to include eldar allies in my army, but I am not sure which units to pick. My dark eldar army is balanced with shooty units and closes combat units. I dont have an eldar codex yet. What would be best for a army like mine?

"Archon Yulliptidon sat apon a throne made of polished glass, which gleamed with magnificence in the rays of the dying suns, beautifully suspended above the the many razor sharp peaks that where Commorragh. The archon held within his hands a a delicate pyramid of sculpted crystal, from which emitted a faint glow, an echo of the soundless screams of pain belonging to countless tortured souls forever trapped within. The room in which the archon sat in was something like a throne room, but displayed apon the walls where helm of every color, but all the same in size and shape. Some bore eagles on their foreheads, and others still contained the decapitated heads of their previous owners. Two huge, beautifully carved iron double doors, engraved with intricate runes of pain and suffering, opened at the far end of the room, to reveal a tall, elegant dark eldar warrior, clad in armor made from bone and flesh. "lord Yulliptidon, you asked for my presence?" Said the arrival, " to what do I owe the pleasure?". The archon raised his elongated head, skin as pale as a full moon, eyes as vivid as a horrible nightmare. " I did not ask for you, Thrayon, I ordered your presence. Do not think to much for your self, for truly, you are not much past a feral that one would find on the streets. As for why I have ordered you to my palace, it is because their is a task that I wish you to preform. I wish you and you kabal to cleanse the imperial out fort of Sargosain Gastienagan." Thrayon was both aghast and interested at what the archon had just said. "Such a task would stretch my kabal to its limits, only a great reward would be enough to do a deed like this." Yulliptidon was outraged by the the proposal of a "great reward" by Thrayon, but did not let his anger show, hiding it with a cold smile that hid his evil intentions surprisingly well. The archon was was famous for never telling a lie in his life, but was very fond of veiled double speak, and this was no exception. "Do not worry, Thrayon, you shall receive what you deserve." Thrayon, happy with this outcome, left to carry out Yulliptidons task. Little did he know what was coming. Thrayon had done a thousand evil deeds, and what he deserved was a horrible death equal to to all those he had caused. Yulliptidons smiled. He was going to have fun."

Just keep it simple, honestly the only thing that Eldar can give you that Dark Eldar don't do better or at all is a Farseer.

Something like:

Farseer - Runes of Warding, Spear, Guide (switch for prescience)

5x Rangers

ADL with Quad Gun

If you have the points to spare you can add

5x Fire Dragons - Exarch, Crackshot, Tank Hunters

for the BS5 gunner that ignores cover and re-rolls vehicle pens.

Ulthwé Eldar 2.5k points and growing!

Well, if you want to make it cheap, take a Farseer with doom and runes of warding, and 5 Pathfinders. As said the Farseer could man an ADL.
There is also a bigger solution if you run some skimmers:
Farseer w/ doom, runes of warding
10 Dire Avengers
Serpent
3 Warwalkers w/ scatterlasers

You forgot the Vibro Cannon 30pts no LOS needed and once you roll to hit you draw a straight 36" line from a gun model and hit EVERYTHING in that line(including things you can't see, friendly units, and units in assault) causing D6 hits at str 4 and a single glancing hits on any vehicle model hit.
The Nightspinner is also really mean but it's not 30pts

all ur base are belong to da

I think those are the best things to include in a DE army.

If your Dark Eldar army is a nice balance with shoot and close combat units I am confused as to why you even need Eldar allies in the first place. If it is a desire to just paint up some eldar then more power to you and anything will really work depending on what you like to built and paint. If it is a hope of a power boost, just bring in more from your own codex and you'll be fine. Don't need those regular Eldar. I just can't understand why regular Eldar would even consider allying with Dark Eldar in the first place...it is just akin to a loyalist marine chapter allying with a chaos marine force to fight a "common" enemy in my mind...

Harlequins are the one unit that is available for both forces, so adding them could give you a "taste of eldar".

The only nice thing would be a farseer to doom your opponent and Runes of Warding to screw with his psychic abilities.

At that point you need a troop to qualify... EJB or Pathfinders. Nothing else as your DE options are better.

Nah, Eldar and Dark Eldar don't always get along, but in the big picture they are still on the same side... they just don't agree with each other's lifestyle choices.

DE and CWE are about as good as eldar friends get. They would rather ally with each other than any other race in the galaxy.

And I don't buy either of these explanations either. The dark eldar represent everything the Eldar hate about themselves, what lead to the creation of Slaanesh and what ultimately will lead to the end of all Eldar in the galaxy. Those kind of differences do not make "allies". They make enemies. I could see the Eldar allies being used to represent a corrupting craft world moving back to their old decadant ways, but other than that it doesn't make sense given the fluff and the approach of the Eldar. I can see a battle field where the Eldar are fighting any other enemy and the Dark Eldar show up offering an alliance. In my mind the Eldar would turn some of their weapons to their dark eldar and have 2 enemies to fight and not a combined force to fight whomever they were previously fighting. Like I said I see it akin to Space Marines allying willingly with Chaos marines because, despite the chaos, they were still human and could help them fight some other xenos scum.

If Eldar vehicles are even a bit tougher than DE ones, I'd add a couple of them.
DE are psyker-lite, so that's a big gap to get filled.

As for the allies fluff, Eldar are a dying race, and the IoM are not. DE 'drifted' a bit, but didn't become non-Eldar. Also, the paths thing the Eldar do, DE can be written off as a bit of an overgrown path, which might just end up back on the right side.

So, Eldar and DE alongside each other in combat, yes.
SM and Choas, no chance.

but the Eldar(all eldar) are extremely xenophobic and arragont. They consider themselves the masters of the universe, gods greatest gift. They have the same goals ultimately, the recreation of their vast and powerful empire.
Sure the craftworld types are sad that the dark eldar are basically the eldar of the fall but that doesnt mean they are not accepting of them. The craftworld types dont like all these lesser races like humans, tau and orks running about their galaxy and they like them less than dark eldar. They also both know and hate the necrons.
