I have a successor chapter of the Dark Angels and to summarize their fluff the 2-9th companies got eaten by the Tyranids and also half of the 1st. Their first company was 50% terminators and you can probably guess the 50% that survived.
Now originally I was just going to paint them like normal Dark Angels ie. green terminators and land raiders, however I have gone off the idea after painting up 2 of them and would like a switch to a different colour.

Now I don't like Deathwing colours and any kind of green is out also. So keeping in mind they are a Dark Angels successor chapter. What simple non metallic scheme can you come up with? (Also I despise yellow on space marines)

Also one more question although this kinda belongs in the YMDC but anyway - Can you equip a DW TH/SS terminator with a CML?

My plan for my DA successors were that the entire chapter was going to be bone as a main colour and a light-blue/turquoise as the highlight colour, so that might work. I have the vision in my head, but I just need to figure out how to create it. However, you mentioned that you don't like the Deathwing Colours, so that options out.

Some colors that I have seen used to great effect on space marines as a main color are purple, red, and orange, so you could try using one of those. Purple goes well with light colours, particularly yellows, oranges, and whites, but can also be used with black or blue/green trim (which has a lot of 'pop' and give a very sci-fi feel). Red generally prefers a duller trim colour, so either some sort of brown or a shade of black or white. Orange generally works best with black, but also works somewhat well with white, browns or blues.

If they got nommed by nids, why not paint them up in whatever colour nids have for blood or have them drapped in nid bodies.

Make them black in remembrance of their lost brothers, or a dark red maybe and rename themselves the bloodwing.

+1 for this idea. Especially since Nids are aliens so their blood can be whatever colour you want.

I think black armour would look really good on DA, reminiscent of pre heresy, but then again that might be a bit of a fluff contradiction and I see you have BT, so maybe you don't want to paint black SM anymore.

Have you considered a very deep and dark red? It's definitely not DW colours and I believe that if done well it can look great. Otherwise I personally really like the Dark Hunters theme, which is a kind of dark blue, slightly purple (to my sight anyway) with white as a secondary colour. I suggest you look up SM chapters in general for ideas.

Hmm well i generally paint my nids blood a dark red so this could work.

I thought about black but I didn't want them looking like BT as you mentioned and also thought they might look too much like backwards Raven Wing lol. Also that's meant to be Black Legion in my sig but the Black Templar Symbol was the only black headed space marine one I could find


Another vote of confidence for this Dark Red (Bloodwing) Idea is the fact that about 35% of my terminators are from the Space Hulk game and although I have removed some Blood angels Iconography, I was unable to remove the majority of it. Which is now fantastic as both Dark Angel and Blood Angel icons make sense for my chapter!

Well, DA have 3 main colours: Black, Green, Bone. Why not go for black as a main colour, augment with a few geeen or bone details, and maybe some purple, red or blue as a secondary?

Well an idea you might wanna play around with is painting one of their arms in nid colors or make one of their arms covered in skulls and have it black/dark colors to honor their breather that fell to the nids, as for the terminators main color, maybe a base a very dark dark green?

My vote goes for black too, since Dark Angel Deathwing had black armour originally - the main Chapter changed, but the Successor Chapters needn't have...
If you want to avoid them looking like Black Templars, just avoid the white. Especially on the helmets.

Well, I'll field a DA successor chapter: Guardians of the Covenant (colors: black, red, silver), since I can't stand this kind of green.
