I've been trying to expand my stable of mercenary models of late, and that has led me to start looking at the four mercenary contracts. While I can understand playing going with most contracts for either the rules they offer or the particular mix of models they are allowed to use, I can't see the point in playing a Searforge Commission army. The troop choices are highly restrictive and their extra rules just don't seem as useful in comparison to the other contracts.

Surely someone is playing Searforge. What am I missing here?

Not much. Theyre the fluff bunnies at the moment. People who play them do it for fun.

That's pretty much what I figured (the fluff part, not the munchkin body slams despite how awesome they are), so hooray for me for having at least a partial idea of what I'm talking about.

They're gimmicky, but have come a long way into being very mean. Lost a few scenario games to those damn Rhulfolk.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

General Ossrum is also one of the better warcasters there is right now.

There has been more success with Gorton and madhammer then with Oss so far. At least from the merc forums.

They all can bring something to the game.

but playing them as searforge... there is no point.

Highborne.. you get all 3 dwarves.. and Gun mages/long gunners

or 4 star and get kayaze.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

Pretty much.

Though the other Minion Solo Casters can be hired by the other merc contracts too that contain the dwarves. (though not sure how the solo casters do in WM armies since they cant get any other beasts, I think)

Maybe there might be some Seaforge only Mercenaries in the future?

Rosch and brine can still take extra Farrow warbeasts and wrong-eye can have gator warbeasts no matter which army they are in.
