Hi,

I was just thinking that painting up legion of the damned marines in green would work really well in a salamanders army, cos of the flames and such like being similar to Vulkan's. I haven't seen anybody do this, and I thought it would be a blindingly obvious addition to a salamander army.

So the questions are:

Has anybody done this before? Link?

If not then why?

Cheers Dakka.

I suspect that the why not would be that it's cost prohibitive compared to buying normal marines and learning to paint flames.

Actually, I use them as Sternguard.

I like the flame effects they have on the models and the green on it.

I don't have pictures right now, however, but I'll try to get them up ^^

PM me if you want me to draw anything related to Warhmmer 40k. I will put it in my gallery for all to see.

I agree the flame iconography is a good match for Salamanders, and have no problems with green marines with flames on their armour, but presuming they'll just count-as normal Salamanders then yes it does seem expensive. Maybe ok just for characters and squad leaders? Or were you planning on using them to count-as some Salamanders equivalent of Legion of the Damned?

Do try painting flames on ordinary models - they're really not too hard.

They would work well as a Veteran squad i think. But yeah, buying a whole army of them seems like a stupidly expensive way to get some good looking models.

If you have the cash - go for it - they would look awesome in salamander colours. I only ever wanted the models to convert into death company but salamanders seems such a better suited and obvious choice! Please post photos if you take the plunge!
