Hello, I'm currently working on my new CSM project, and thought I'd get some C&C before advancing:

Chaos Lord - Jump Pack, Burning Brand of Skalathrax, Mark of Nurgle, Lightning Claw, Sigil of Corruption

Helbrute - Reaper Autocannon

Helbrute - Reaper Autocannon

Plague Marines X5 - 2 Plasma Guns

Plague Marines X5 - 2 Plasma Guns

Plague Marines X5 - 2 Plasma Guns

Heldrake - Bale Flamer

Raptors X5 - Mark of Nurgle, 1 Lightning Claw, 2 Meltaguns

Raptors X5 - Mark of Nurgle, 1 Lightning Claw, 2 Meltaguns

Obliterators X3 - Mark of Nurgle

Battle Plan: Keep the Chaos Lord and Obliterators in reserve (same unit).Deploy the Plague Marines out of sight on T1, preferably in ruins/on objectives. The raptors move up to take out any nasty vehicles/tie up anything bad (like devastators). When the Obliterators and Chaos Lord come down, I'll aim for behind enemy lines. They'll fire, hopefully doing a lot (considering Plasma Cannons + an AP3 flamer kill a lot, in general), then the Chaos Lord will separate to go into CC. Ultimately, the idea is to remove any potential for my opponent to score, whilst keeping my scorers safe.

I may switch out the Plague Marines for regular Chaos Marines, possibly adding in a few cultists for cheap bodies (though I plan to ally Orks to bring this list up to 2000 points in the future).

Thoughts?

Helbrutes=no. I'd drop those in favor of another obliterators unit or forgefiend. Or even another Heldrake. On the Lord, ditch the jump pack and take him on a bike, and he'll be T6. Go with the first list, plague Marines are better than regular csm, but you may find objective games difficult with only 3 small units.

1) Brutes give me more pressure should something bad (such as the Tau Crisis Suits that seem to turn up a lot in my area).

2) How do I go about deep striking a guy on a bike?

I believe it's called Turbo-boost (kidding btw) I've never had much luck on deepstriking units. Hope you fare better than I.

I like Helbrutes, but might I say that the Reaper Auto-cannon is not the ideal weapon choice for them. I don't think you'll need anything more than the Multi-melta they come with. If you're looking to shoot at marines and not tanks, why would you want to give them their armor saves?

You didn't list Rhinos for your Plague Marines. If you're not taking them, are you willing to risk a single shot taking out a 39 point model? Precision shots are nasty little buggers.

I like your first build better than the second. You don't need 2 HQs at this point level. If you really want another, spring for a Daemon Prince instead of just another Lord. I'd recommend Slaanesh with wings and power armor. Nothing more is needed.

Go big or go home I say, stick 3 hell brutes and 3 obliterators on a skyshield. That 4+ invuln will make the hellbrutes acceptable (still not amazing though) plus they can see for miles and markerlights wont get rid of your save because its an invuln shield not a cover save.

Drop the jump pack guys for bikes to escort your lord (riding the bike). Bikes are so much better,

Your brand lord has a 24 inch threat range + the length of the template.
Your brand lord is immune to instant death from strength (T6)
Your lord can fire every turn not just turn 2
If you deep strike you could easily end up only getting a single round of shooting with the brand/oblits before you are attacked, if you're on a bike you have much more control and can dakka dakka for longer

I'd say put the plague marines in a rhino too, sure you give up first blood but it's dakka that isn't landing on your marines which is always good.
