I won a small tournament with my Tyranids this weekend:

Though not an actual battle report I go through my games and point out the flexibility of the army.

Hope you like it

You brought 4 monstrous creatures at 1200 of which 2 were flying?!? That's not very nice. j.k.

Congrats on a job well done!

Thanks
5 Monstrous creatures actually But in all fairness, many of the other armies were rock solid too.

Really? Around here they are considered middle tier.

Uh, I would say they are top 3

You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand years
Yet have little of account to show for your efforts
Order. Unity. Obedience.
We taught the galaxy these things

And we shall do so again.

4500 pts

I'd have to say they are middle/bottom. So many of there units are useless and it means that tyranids only have a few good builds. ALL your good anti-tank comes from your elite section and if you dont use those options(hiveguard/ zoanthropes) then you have very little chance of a win. Any army with good anti monster means your fighting an uphill battle. And woe upon those who face dark eldar

A good dark eldar force, any self respecting psycannon list or eldar str 6 spam would of had the tyranids for lunch. The lease of life tyranids have got is with FMC, counter that and all they are becomes a few little bugs, and a big bug on an obj.

With all the stuff they got in sixth eddition heck i'd say they are allot better than they have been for a good while, but if you mett a heavy ranged army i think you might had struggled abit more, the ork player should had more dakkajets

True, there wasn't an army tweaked for long ranged shooting.
I think it's a flaw in playing 1200 pts without any restrictions (a'la 40K in 40min). The games at the tournament were all good and fairly equal, but the risk of rock, paper, scissors matchup where you know who will win the moment you have deployed increases.
