Hey guys. Does anyone know when i can find the white dwarf update for the flyers? it's the June 2012 edition. I can't find a pdf or a website with the rules anywhere. Please help. Thank you.

Edit: I'm sorry guys i found it. this is the best i could find. If anyone else has better quality scans it would be much appreciated.

Fair play to that Faeit212 guy, one of the most bat-poo crazy decisions GW have ever made in my book to not have those rules downloadable from the site. So illogical that I bet Spock is doing 360's in his grave.

if they don't consider this to be fair game than i don't know what to say. I can understand not wanting full codex downloads but there is no way to get these rules. How are we suppose to get them without finding a clean pdf or, a few terrible pictures i can barely read?

GW in their wisdom decided to make some essential rules for models (and one army: Sororitas) a WD splash release, so that they can't be bought legally after a week or so.
To be fair, they reacted to criticism and now make WD without any content

I feel your pain, I was thinking of doing an Ork army with a dakka jet and figured it'd be an easy find online, as it turns out GW refuses to post the rules, but are very quick with their sue button. Piracy happens when there is a demand for it, a smart company doesnt make a demand for it.

I just keep thinking that if I was brand new to the hobby just how discouraged I'd be with the company. Not having a model is one thing, but not taking the 30 seconds to copy paste a file to your website? C'mon.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

That's funny, the rules are very much available for purchase. You may not like the format, but you can get the rules at any time.

People will always make up reasons why they are entitled to things for free and are justified in pirating them.

Many companies release things in limited formats, it doesn't mean you are entitled to pirate them to format shift them for free. If you don't like it, play something else from a company who releases their rules in a format you like.

I wonder if it's telling that they've not released a digital Ork codex with the bommer rules included, but instead have a separate download.

But they did integrate the SM/fliers into their digital codexes, no?

As far as I am aware there is no legal way to obtain the sisters codex anymore and if I wanted to buy the rules for the ork/marine flyers I would need to pay $50 for a new codex (even though I have a physical marine codex anyway) and I would need to buy something to read it with since I don't own any apple products. Yes I can legally acquire those rules but I am not going to no matter how much I want them.

If they put out the sisters codex for $30au and the flyer rules for $5-10 then I'd totally agree with you, but this is a case where yes it is illegal to pirate these things but no I wouldn't fault someone for doing it.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

You seem to be suggesting that in order to get the rules I should go buy a $700 ipad so I can use my $60 model, and that that is completely 100% resonable. Nothing to do with entitlement, but you are selling a model without (easily excessable) rules, and in order to get them I need an apple device.

And yes they did, they update the digital dexs with the FAQ updates, and I just checked, the 3 pages of ork fliers is $5.99 on the itunes store. The review for the ork flier rules is awesome:

"I find it extremely insulting that on top of the exorbitant price of the model, I have to pay this amount for what is essentially a set of weapon stats lines and a couple 2sentence paragraphs of special rules, If I REALLY wanted all that fluff I would buy the past issue of WD. Thanks for the blatant cash grab GW!! As always you never fail to disapoint in that area"

Sorry, but we'll have to close this.

I know it's daft that the rules aren't freely available from the GW site or somesuch, I've even emailed GW a few times , to no avail.

But as this thread is little more than a plea for copyrighted materials.. well.. we can't have that.

Good luck in your search though
