I have a problem. I don't play warhammer, just like painting the miniatures but I love to paint so I can paint in a normal day 5 nobz to a decent standard in one day. It cost alot of money!

What should I do?

^^ That - You could always look online for other companies miniatures which are cheaper.

EDIT- You could also try new techniques.

Move to larger kits like battlewagons or Stompas.

OR, track one of these suckers down.

I have one of each of the segments and hey take a WHILE to paint.

Do you batch paint your models?
If you want to go slower try painting them one at a time and not start the next model until you have finished the one you are working on to as high a standard as you can.

If you don't play the game then you're in no rush to finish models off, so really push yourself to paint more and more details.

Look through the gallery here on dakka dakka until you find some models that are painted (in your opinion) to such a high standard that, at first, you don't think you could do. Then try to better it.

Or look though the tutorials to find new painting techniques that you haven't used and try them out.

Have you tried converting your models? or scratch-building models/terrain/vehicles? That can be just as much fun as painting and if you incorporate stuff you have laying about the house (that would normally just get thrown away) it can be cheap and give you plenty more things to paint and hence, slow down your spending on actual models.

Sounds like you should paint to the next level.

Or, for another new suggestion, why not try the game out?
Of you end up enjoying it, it'll give you done focus on exactly what to collect and paint next, and limit painting modems for thr sake of it.
I started out the same as you, just enjoying painting and not interested in the game.
Tried out a few with a mate, to help him, as he had an army but no regular opponents, now I'm playing games at least once a fortnight

that is really clean and just a bit above table top. That said, I think based on the clean job so far you can push the level a lot high in your details, which will take longer and give you move fun in the painting.

Sell your services and become a commission painter. You may not keep the minis, but you'll still be able to paint!

Alternatively, commission for free. If paint just for the love of painting, have someone else pay for the miniatures, paint them, and then return them to the buyer. Asking around at your local store or on these boards should get you someone interested. Lots of people love the game but hate the painting, and you don't suck at painting at all.

Or commission for models so you paint to paint for more things to paint.

Slow down!

Looking at the model you posted, it's a good job, but it's not great.

It doesn't appear to have any type of shading (well, one spot) and instead looks more like it was primed black, and *maybe* painted black in some areas, drybrushed silver, a little wash over the face plate and some red slapped on various parts. The bullet hole looks ok. The blue tube barely shows the ribbing (needs a wash) and the rockets are lacking any type of detail. If I was rating it on the gallery, I'd give it a solid 6. Mainly because the base is cool; without that I'd do a 5. In short, it looks like you spent about 15 to 20 minutes on it.

Basically, read through some of the threads here and start learning a few advanced skills. Things like OSL or even just simple blends would look great. You can certainly do those things on models you already have.

I had a similar problem when I was painting my necrons. Then I picked up the master class book and played around with a number of ideas in it. I still have quite a bit to learn but the overall quality of my work has increased exponentially. Of course, I now find myself spending an hour or two applying around 12 different paints onto a single model... and that's just the armor. Interestingly, I now use a lot less paint, but I think that comes with the territory.

Do what i do, paint other peoples models in exchange for more models. if you do it enough you will become really good by the time you actually get around to your own stuff and will have really only paid for paints/mats for painting. helps if you invest in an airbrush.

Start using more complex painting techniques. Outline and use more shading to really pop the armor plates. That takes forever but looks really good.

I used to paint for models back in the day. A box of terminators painted would cost them a box of terminators.

So basically everytime I painted someone's army I got a whole army to myself.

It's also why I have a closet full of unpainted unopened somewhat random models. Since some I've traded, sold, etc.
