Does the Deathwatch take Librarians from chapters? I'm considering paining the librarian from Dark Vengeance in that scheme if there was background supporting it. As a Blood ravens player I'd think that they would be taking the best of each chapter, hence a librarian being assigned to the Deathwatch if he had a unique set of skills and experiences fighting against Xenos.

Yes they do as is shown plenty of time in deathwatch novels and both the deathwatch books, the Librarian is from a BA succesor chapter, not sure if its Flesh tearers or another?

The Deathwatch as a concept has, I think, recently suffered a bit from different sources leading to a greater degree of deviancy ... however, the presence of Librarians at least is supported in everything that I have read so far.
Regarding the original material from Games Workshop, I can contribute this:
"In battle, each team normally comes under the authority of an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, but, in some exceptional cases, a Deathwatch Captain or Librarian may assume command if circumstances dictate."
- WD #249, Index Astartes : The Deathwatch
"The Deathwatch squad consists of one Space Marine Captain and between 4 and 9 Deathwatch Space Marines. [...] The Captain can be upgraded to a Librarian (Codicier) at +40 points."
- WD #258, Deathwatch Kill-team rules

The Deathwatch fluff in the RPG was written hand-in-hand with GW. If GW didn't want it to exist, it would not exist. There is no 'deviancy'. Get it through your skull.
Yes, the Deathwatch has Libbys. They have pretty much everything.

Who said anything about GW not wanting deviating impressions of the setting to exist? Not me. That they still exist is a fact which can be easily ascertained simply by looking at the various sources and taking notice of the conflicts both small and large. You're not helping if you continue to claim that it's all just meant to tie into each other rather than representing different takes on the subject.
As much as you may feel compelled to "defend" your contributions to FFG's books, several authors with much more experience and a deeper connection to the franchise - including two former GW game designers - have commented on the subject and contradicted your opinion.
Get that through your skull.
Sheesh. I think I'd really like talking to you, but this one issue just keeps being a thorn in the side of each of us, it seems.
My offer to discuss this in that thread we already had going still stands.

Depending on which book you're looking at.

Nah. The fluff in the FFG books (and any video game, and BL book, or FW book) wouldn't exist without the IP guys and their approval. If they don't want it, it doesn't happen. There's no contradiction between general Deathwatch information and that specific to the Jericho Reach (the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, in other words). You can continue to invent contradictions as you have in the past, but it won't fly. It is a rare day indeed that GW lets something go to print without their approval, and your continued assumption that if it doesn't flow from the Ward/Kelly/Cruddace/Veetock/Johsnon/other studio writers keyboards that it somehow 'doesn't count' is not only flat out wrong, but un-fething-believably insulting to anyone who isn't writing actual Codices. I thought you'd've got that through your condition-creating brain, but you really really haven't yet. You can quote those quotes 'til the end of time, make all the false appeals to authority you want, but it won't change the fact that there is no distinction between different 'kinds' of fluff. That's something you've invented in your own little head. Harp on about 'til the end of time for all I care, you will never be right until Alan Merritt himself comes down from on high and declares anything not in a Codex non-canon. And on that day, I will happily concede. Until such time though, why don't you cut this gak out or just stay out of any fluff thread if all you're going to do is scream "But that's not canon!" like some petulant termagant (no, not the Tyranid kind). Good day...

6 posts in, and the thread is already getting snarky? Y'all need to dial this back to a polite conversation, or Bad Things are going to happen very soon.

In other words, yes, they have Librarians drawn from various chapters, just like they would any other normal Brother Marin. They will usually occupy the same leadership position in a Deathwatch team as a Captain, but are probably a rare occurrence, as they are a valuable asset to their parent Chapter.
Although I do not have any of the FG fluff books. I am going completely by the Index Astartes and the Kill-team rules from WD and Chapter Approved.
I bought the dark Vengeance Librarian to add to my Kill-Team.
