So I have been wondering for a while what became of the Istvaan system after the events of the Horus Heresy I have not seen any reference to it anywhere and wondered if anyone might have some input.

Well not even the Alge and roaches were still alive so I imagine they've been ignored.

Like the great storm of the Horus Heresy, the forces of the True Gods will descend upon the Emperor's minions. The stars will tremble at their passage and the mighty armadas of the Warmaster Abaddon will bring annihilation to a hundred worlds. Know this, for these things will come to pass.

Istvaan 3 was virus bombed back to rock but the other planets in the system survived intact. I was just curious to know what the fate of the planets that were not scorched and survived the HH.

Knowing the Imperium, they would probably be left alone, with access to them forbidden by the Inquisition. I think they would be too controversial to be simply turned into war memorials.

The Istavan system? there IS NO such place citizen, and to say there is is heresy. Are you a heritic? asks the Inquistitor drawing his plasma pistol.

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

Weren't most of the planets involved hit by an Exterminatus? Or the Pre-Inquisition equivalent?

Something i have wondered as well, i think it would be a quarantined system. no one out (if anyone was alive still) and deffo no one in.

the galatic map in the FW HH book puts the system way out passed the current imperial borders.

maybe here, maybe there, but never where

What happened to the Istvaan system after its little scuffle?

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnothing!

Games Workshop simply conveniently forgot it existed!

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Istvaan was made up for purpose long after he initial fluff was set down. When did FFG make their card game? Must've been around then as I cant recall anything from before that. There is no mention of it in codex imperialis from 2nd and nothing in 4th as I recall.

Back in 1st edition there was a piece about the second pacification of isstvann involving the Desert Lions Chapter and the Legio Cybernetica, called Operation Carthage.

This quote came from it:

Bravery is stronger than Adamantium. One is the stuff of the soul-forges, the other an illusion of safety created by fools. Adamantium walls cannot keep us out! We have the courage of the Emperor! And in the Emperor's name... ATTACK!! ATTACK!! NO PRISONERS!! - Chaplain Gonzago

No mention of anything now though.

I don't know if it's possible or not, but the same thing to could have happened to Tsagualsa. Maybe it got recolonized, a rather unfortunate mistake made by its new inhabitants.

Edit: I would post a link to the source but the site (gamehobby.net) seems to be down ... I hope it's not been GW'd as it was an amazing source of out of old fluff and one I used regularly.
