Considering options for tournaments that allow Forgeworld.

Is this thing legal? I do not own a copy of the book yet... Is it in Imperial Armour?

Thanks for any help.

You will find the entry for the Storm Eagle in IMPERIAL ARMOUR AERONAUTICA.

Concerning the 'legality' it depends on, as many other things, the Tournament Organizers. However with their newer publications forgeworld are stamping each unit with either an ''Apocalypse'' or ''Warhammer 40.000'' seal to indicate where it should be used.

Quote, Imperial Armour Aeronotica, page 4: " 2. This unit is intended to be used in 'standard' games of warhammer 40.000, within the usual limitations of Codex selection and force organisation charts. As with all our models these should be concidered 'official', but owing to the fact that they may be unknown to your opponent, it's best to make sure that they are happy to play a game containing Forge World models before you start."

That being said you will have to produce a copy of the rules for your oponent so he can read them.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

And? He is not saying that he is automatically right because he produced an e-mail. In fact there is no argument here. E-mails from GW are technically legal, but should not be relied upon. If everyone was saying the opposite, then you would have a point, but everyone is saying the same thing, tell your opponent and let then look over the rules. In a tournament setting it its up to the TO, and more tourneys are allowing IA.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Due to what Forge World has stated in print you must have permission from an opponent to use the Storm Eagle in a friendly game. It's up to the TO as to whether or not you can use it in a tournament.

The Storm Eagle is stamped as 40k Approved and there is an alternate version for Chaos Space Marines. The rules are available for free on their website... Just do a quick Google search and you'll find them.

You have grossly misstated what FW has said

"but owing to the fact that they may be unknown to your opponent, it's best to make sure that they are happy to play a game containing Forge World models before you start."

That is NOT a directive stating you MUST have permission, just "it's best". As in, a suggestion

It is also courtesy, but then it is also courtesy to talk about your army if it is new to an opponent.

Your opponent can always say no. It's not like 'Hey I don't like Manticores."

Yes, and your opponent can say "I dont want to play cronair, pick something else or we dont play"

THe entire game is permission based, from the get go. I was pointing out you misrepresented what FW actually said.

Really, no, you didnt.

"it's best" is not a requirement to ask permission. Or do yo uhave an entirely different understanding of basic English to everyone else?

Okay so you fail to comprehend what they are saying. Do whatever you want. I would never try to force it on anyone in a friendly game.

Talk to your local Tournament Organizer if you want to use it in a tournament. If your Tournaments feature Forge World models and rules, then you should be good to go. The Storm Eagle is very expensive (point and $) for what it does.

Very pretty model, though.

Sigh. Fine. Ignore the really, really simple suggestion made by FW, and totally change its meaning. Given you have utterly failed to explain yourself, I will assume you are on fine troll form

You do realise I pointed out that EVERY GAME requires opponents permission? There is no "forcing" in 40k. You are just making the most bizarre statements

Indeed.

We'll leave the oh-so tiresome FW legality arguments alone please No need to beat that horse to death. Again.

I think the Storm Eagle is awesome for Chaos Space Marines. I am building one for my new Death Guard army.
