I'm a pretty regular customer of Wayland Games and Gifts for Geeks but have found the bits I want cheaper at Total Wargamer.
The saving is about £5 so it's not really a massive saving but why pay more if you don't have to?
Anyone bought stuff from here before?
Please let me know, good or bad. It all helps paint a picture....
And while were at it, if anyone knows of any other good online stores I can have a butchers at then great.
Cheers

I have bought a couple of bits, they've been good.
I had to cancel one order, and they took a few days to refund and it came from a different PayPal account. odd, but i still got my money back so no complaints!

Dark Sphere and Rocket Hobbies are my favoured two, both do up to 25% off. A few people have criticised Rocket for being slow recently, and having placed my first order for a while last week that does seem to have become the case, I'm guessing Maelstroms demise has increased business for others and I guess some are coping better than others.
As for Total Wargamer? I ordered two plastic GW troop boxes on the 12th Dec, finally received them in Jan, so...meh.
They were having a 30% off sale at the time and I wasn't in a hurry but I'd call it very slow, and when I emailed them after 3 weeks they told me it was coming in on the next order. Even allowing for Xmas that strikes me as fairly shoddy.

Total wargamer is ludicrously slow, I've had stuff take well over a month before. I've swapped to wayland as they've always managed to get every order out within a week for me so far, yes it's only 20% off compared to the 25-30 at total wargamer but at least I know I'll get it in a quarter of the time.

Like so many webshops it often comes down to whether they have something in stock. And like you say, why pay more? So, it's worth a phone call - the guy who owns it runs a very tight ship and if they have the item it will be with you speedily.

They can be slow, but they have a B&M store, so safer than most web only places. Cheap too, so worth it if you don't mind waiting, but if you want something faster go else where and pay more.

Used them twice now, very very slow the first time, very slow the second time and there is still an item outstanding.

Hmm, at least three people have said something similar to this. I don't have a problem waiting for stuff but I don't fancy waiting ages for the sake of saving a fiver. I'll pass I think.
Cheers for input fellas

I have even been ordering direct recently for this very reason, GW normally gets it to me in a few days and anyone else its always two weeks to a month, It seems a long time to wait just for the sake of saving a few quid.

Im in exactly the same boat, its the wait that kills it for me. I tend to use them mainly for big orders, and when they have one of their 30% off offers on. I dont want to wait 6 weeks for the sake of five or ten quid, but if its a couple of hundred being spent, or group orders, the substantial savings make the wait a bit more palatable.
On the plus side, they are very quick to respond via facebook (not so with email/phone) and any (rare) errors Iv had have been sorted out in my favour very quickly...

I guess it comes down to priorities.
Time I got, cash..not so much.
It is a joke, and this is a criticism I level not just a TW, that I can order something from the other side of the planet, have it made and delivered more quickly than someone in Nottingham (or where ever) can wonder down to a storeroom and chuck a couple of items in a box.

Just call them for chrissakes! I can guarantee you that all of the people waiting an age ordered items that were out of stock - admittedly this is a problem as the website doesn't show stock levels, but thats what the phone ordering service is there for.

I ordered from them once, never ever again will I try to save that extra fiver. I just get it from gifts now, I do also have the added bonus of being from Leicester so I can just go into the store.
My items didn't arrive for ages, I sent them a number of emails and contacted them by phone, and they basically just lied to me.

It's a common problem with all these discounting companies.
They operate on low profit margins, and cannot afford to have huge stockpiles of stuff sitting about
so at least something from your order will probably have to be ordered in
and these orders are often made via wholesale suppliers who themselves do the same thing, order in batches from the actuall manufacturer.
and at each step the supplier will say, no problem, of cource I can get however many units of item X to you quick....
when what they really mean is we'll order it and it will turn up when it turns up

That's the truth of it right there.
I'm getting my feet wet as an independent retailer and I can tell you with confidence that when I log in to my distributors website and see their regional warehouse doesn't have something in stock, I know no one in that region has the product. The exceptions would be A) they've ordered it directly from the parent company itself, Games Workshop in this case or B) the distributor did get some product in (but not enough to meet demand) and a select few got their orders filled/partially filled.

The theory is that GW is squeezing this sentiment for all its worth. With so many discounters around, GW seems to think that by not actually shipping to the major worldwide distributors they can create a window of opportunity to boost their direct sales.
I don't know if this is true or not so take it with a grain of salt but in my limited recent experience with the Dark Angels release it seems to have some weight. Deathwing Boxes really only became available a week ago and Ravenwing Boxes are still MIA.
