Im new to dakka so if this post is in the wrong section please dont kill me. So I was wondering, during a game at this club i play at, a grey knight player fielded his storm raven on turn one in hover mode then proceeded to zoom it right in front of my face and unload into my sqauds. I know flyers have to be in reserves till at least turn 2 and I did find move to be cheesy and frustrating. But ultimately, was that a valid move?

Nope, fliers must start in reserve. He cheated and he probably knew it too.
They can come on turn two IN hover mode, but they must start off the field. The rulebook is very clear.

Generations have suffered with the same devotion that we can offer but once. Still, our Faith leads us through these dark times like a beacon. It will guide us to triumph over these abominations. Either by breaking them upon us like waves against a limitless, golden peak or by thrusting through them like the spear of the Immortal Emperor Himself." - Cannoness Aoife, Order of the desert rose #Yesallwomen

If he really was not an enjoyable opponent and you did not have fun, without taking winning or losing into account, then stop playing him.
However a lot of people read rules differently, and some rules are fairly ambiguous (Especially if you have not read the FaQ's, but not in this case as the rules are really clear).
I would explain the situation about flyers entering on turn 2, and assess his reasoning for thinking it was turn 1, it is probably just a misreading of the rules.
If he was an enjoyable opponent and you had fun, without taking winning or losing into account, then I would not be so hasty in the decision to stop playing him.

People do make mistakes.
And even if people are deliberatly cheating, its usually best to give them a second chance. And maybe a third.
Better to fix a cheater than let him continue to do his thing to other people. You'll be the better person for it.

Just a note that this is also in the main rulebook FAQ explicitly:
Q: Flyers normally have to start in reserve, but can a Flyer (Hover) choose to begin the game in Hover mode and deploy with the rest of the army? (p81)
A: No.

Semantics, but in order to cheat, you'd have to know about it. If you don't know that you're playing the game wrong, then you are just mistaken.

To be fair i played someone who bought their flier on t1 as he though they started in ongoing reserves. Might be a similar misunderstanding.
