Hi, I'm trying to build a 1500pt competitive list for use at the battle brothers tournament. I'd like it to be a roughly even split of blood angels and guard using the allies system in the 6th edition rulebook. I have to admint I haven't played many games with the 6th edition rules, so if anyone could critique this list for me it would be great!

Blood Angels

Librarian (not sure whether to go with shield and lance or with divination) 100
Assault squad with meltagun in Las/Plas Razorback 165
Assault squad with meltagun in Las/Plas Razorback 165
Baal Predator with Heavy Bolter Sponsons 145
Predator with Autocannon and Lascannon Sponsons 135

Imperial Guard

Command Squad with 3 Meltaguns in Chimera 135
Psyker Battle Squad with 6 Psykers in Chimera 135
Veteran Squad with Heavy Bolter and Grenade Launcher in Chimera 140
Veteran Squad with Autocannon and Grenade Launcher in Chimera 140
Leman Russ Demolisher 165
Hydra 75

I'm not sure on a few things:

Do I need more anti air? I've never faced fliers yet with the new rules. Could maybe include a vendetta or an aegis line with quad gun.
Should I swap shield and lance for divination for the librarian?
The veteran squads seem a little underequipped, should I swap something out to give them more firepower?

Please give me a bit of feedback!

Hey, I'm actually going up to that tournament. Do you mean the April one at Warhammer World? If it is, the allied list is illegal as its just standard 40k force org and you've got two heavy supports in each section. If not, then ignore!

Also, if it is the Warhammer World Battle Brothers tournament the structure of the event is that your score is made up mainly of a total of your in-game victory points not a win-loss tally. So bear this in mind when you're think about how many troops to take.

1) Replace the heavy bolter in the chimera squad with an autocannon. Its better in every way and you've got plenty of heavy bolters already.

2) The vet squad layout in general is a little odd. Each squad can take three special weapons. 3 plasma guns in a vet squad + chimera is a staple for 170. Don't forget you have to get out of transports to score now too.

3) Razorbacks are not very durable in 6th and you can't assault from them. That's not to say they don't have their place.

4) One hydra really isn't immensely good anti-air. If you have the cash, get yourself a vendetta (like everyone else!) and pop the command squad with meltas in there.

Good Ol' Texas

I would give the Libby epistolary if you can find the points. Also, I think it would be better to get another Assault squad with a plasmagun and a Priest instead of the Baal. The more bodies the better since you are doing MSU.

I don't often use epistolaries, but divination is pretty stupid good. It might be worth it. But sometimes I'm cheap to a fault. I like as many bodies on the table as possible. Perhaps its overcompensation for how ridiculously easy it is to field a tiny BA army.

Hi, it is the April Battle Brothers tournament I'm going to, but the Baal predator is a fast attack choice, so it'll be OK to field it as an allied detachment What armies will you be fielding? You'll recognise my Blood Angels by the massive white eagles on the tanks. You can see them on the link at the bottom of this post if you like

Firstly, I know the veteran squads are very light on upgrades, but I've really been struggling to find the points to get them anything more... Maybe they'd work better as infantry squads if I'm so stretched for points? I like the idea of a vendetta carrying the command squad though, could be a good combo. I'll write up a list tonight.

I've never really used either epistolaries or divination tbh, how do you think it would work in this army? He would have to be out of his razorback to use his powers...

And what do you mean, adding a plasma gun assault squad, would that be inside a tank?

Please share any other suggestions by the way, this is really helpful!

How's this? I've reorganised a few things, added an infantry platoon and a vendetta, dropping the hydra, the veterans and the Baal.

Psyker Battle Squad with 6 psykers in chimera 135
Platoon Command Squad with 3 Melta Guns in Chimera 115

Infantry Squad with Autocannon in Chimera 115
Vendetta 135
Leman Russ Demolisher 165

Blood Angels (Main Detachment)

Librarian 100
Assault squad with meltagun in Las/Plas Razorback 165
Assault squad with meltagun and infernus pistol in Las/Plas Razorback 180
Predator with Autocannon and Lascannon Sponsons 135

This is definitely looking nastier. My only suggestion might be to take the platoon command squad and pop it in the vendetta. That way you can dump them on objectives last turn. I'm not sure if Inferno Pistols are worth it on foot troops as it'll be much harder to use in comparison to on jump infantry. The last thought is that it's almost a shame to lose the command squad's higher Bs on stuff that has to get so close its dangerous, plasma guns on the command squad might up your Ap2 which would be great for MCs, terminators and light vehicles. Don't forget that the command squad can order itself too, for extra reliability. The Baal is really good as out-flanking ap3 flamers are awesome for 115 points.

But generally, yeah, looking good. Stack of anti-infantry. Plenty of lascannons. Might suffer versus pods but you can't have everything.

We'll be rocking a Ravenwing army split between ravenwing colours and white scars colours (easy to spot!).

Our list is vaguely the below, the plan is to de-mech people with krak missiles and multi-meltas before spraying them with twin-linked salvo bolters (24 shots per bike squad!). Whirlwinds are there to project cheap, anti-cover fire on people cowering behind defence lines and camping objectives as well as any bunched up infantry.

Samael (Corvex) - 200
Ravenwing Command, Banner of Devastation, Apothecary - 215
6 Bikes, 2 Meltas, Attack Bike, Multi-Melta - 236

Thanks for the advice - I think you're right, maybe swap the infernus pistol for plasmas on the command squad. Not entirely sure about the PCS in the vendetta though. I guess it's be a bonus, but they wouldn't get out and contribute until the end of the game if they survive that long...

Your list looks pretty scary - that's a lot of bikes and a lot of meltaguns! Whirlwinds look pretty good to now they're that cheap pointswise! Hopefully we'll get a game against each other
