If you are shooting a squad and have PE against part of the squad. Say you have PE Space Marines and there is a space marine character in a blob of 30 guardsmen. Do you roll PE against the squad?

What about if you are in combat. You have PE Space marines and there is a space marine character in a blob of 30 guardsmen.
Does it matter if the marine IC is in BTB?
What if he is in a challenge? Does the rest of the squad get PE against the IG because the IG squad has a SM in it?

What about hatred on the first turn of combat in the above 3 cases?

1) In your example - no.

The IC is a member of the unit for all rules purposes, so the unit is a Guard unit

2) Only if you are aloocating hits against the Space Marine.

A better example would be Abaddon with a squad fighting BA.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The IC becomes part of the squad. So your PE would be against the squad the IC was attached too.

The unit is key, I had a cavalry model attacked to a squad of bikers and had picked pe bikers with my wolf priest the other day. All the PE rolls kicked the hell out of the squad in one turn of shooting.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.
