So, at this point I'm earning myself a reputation for making polls for deciding armies. But I am splurging a ton of money on this upcoming marine and krieg alliance, so I want to get it right. First things first; I am making a marine and krieg alliance. I will be uploading a plog on it, and it will be heavily community based. The krieg will be painted as a homage to the allied chapter, and I know it will be awesome. But I need to know whether they should be minotaurs or salamanders. I like minotaurs because:
1. They have a great colour scheme.
2. I'm into greek history.
3. They are different.
4. They have a cool play style (using the forge world models)
5. The forge world models are super cool.

Cons:

1. All of my armies so far have been combat orientated.
2. They have a lack of fluff to work with (although this could be seen as an advantage, and the rumoured ia could change this)

As for the salamanders:

Pros:

1. Cool paintscheme.
2. Competitive armies.
3. Lot's of conversion opportunities.
4. Bray is a badass.
5. They'll work well with the krieg.

Cons:

1. Not different.
2. Green, like my orks.

I have decided not to make this a poll because I want lots of personal opinions, although one word answers are welcome

Do both they are battle brothers so it's not a downside to worry over, and it won't take much to make up a history about why they fight side by side.

You'll need 2 HQ choices and 3 troops as the core force but given that you always want troops to take and hold objectives that's no bad thing.

That won't work as they are allied with the krieg already :/ Thanks for the suggestion though.

Minotaurs have Preferred Enemy: Space Marines if you use their Chapter Master (which you should since fluff dictates that when they fight they mobilize their entire chapter)

Since SM is the most popular codex, that'd be pretty darn good.

I cast my vote for more Salamanders, the same as I did last time.

I think the Minotaurs paint scheme might be far, far more work than they would be worth. Unless you just LOOOVE painting, I would go with the Salamanders. To my mind, the only reason to put the amount of work into an army that a good Minotaur paint scheme would require would be an overwhelming love for the chapter. I take the fact that you are even taking a survey as evidence that you are not in such a love-drunk mindset, and suggest you go with the greenies.(Assuming you get the most joy out of playing the game. If the actual work of painting is your favorite part of the hobby, then I would go with the more labor-intensive Minotaurs.)

That being said, I also don't think you could ally Minotaurs and Salamanders if you wanted. Aren't Minotaurs Codex: Space Marines? I thought that you couldn't ally two armies from the same codex.

It's literally just one or two layers of Sycorax Bronze, and then details.

speaking as a guy that spent last year painting salamanders, I vote for minotaurs. I say this only because you already have a green army (your orks). having some variety in what you're painting will help prevent painter burnout. my next army's going to be night lords CSM, so I'll be painting a lot of blue this year. I'll probably also add a few units to my sallies, though, so I'll get to break up all that blue work with a bit of green. variety is good

Thankyou for the comments so far, I must say that I don't mind spending a lot of time painting, I enjoy it very much, but you make good points Jumsolo. 1-1 so far.
