Frankie calls out Reecius’ Nids with his new Chaos list in a grudge match! Then, Reecius takes on ChristianA’s very, very good new Marine/IG list.

Enjoy!

Reece I'm not sure what happened there...you went from having a great performance against Frankie to pretty much collapsing against Christian. You were forgetting a lot of basic rules for your army like spawning gants. Pretty amazing though how you still almost squeaked out a win at the end. I would love to see your Nids against Jy2's Chaos list. You did win the more important of the two I will give you that.

We all have our good games and our bad games. We rise and we fall, but at the end it's just a game.

I'm skeptical of Frankie's list, but Christian's list is rock solid. Manticores are great in the current metagame, which favors foot-slogging armies. Taking out Biovores in the beginning was a smart move.

Overall, nice video battle reports. Congrats on the first game, too bad on the second. Lady luck can be fickle.

Need to make more sacrifices to the dice gods before you play ;P
Other than that, I enjoyed the reports very much. You all have excellent musical taste.

Christian's list was ok, but I'm not sure it has what it takes to win a GT. I think that it needs a little more tweaking. Here are 2 tips, one for Reece and the other for Christian.

@Reece

As a tyranid player, always put your objectives near area terrain. This way, if your gants lurk, they will still be claiming.

@Christian

You guys played the Swarmlord-blob combat wrong. You should not have accepted the challenge with the librarian. That unit cannot be sweeping advanced due to ATSKNF. So if Swarmy wins, you either fall back, regroup and then shoot him in the face or you just stay locked in combat.

Tyranids are a tough matchup for Chaos. There's probably only a very few good chaos builds that can match up against a good tyranid army and even that build may require a little luck to pull off the victory, especially in objectives-based games. To me, a matchup between chaos and the bugs is almost like a matchup between bugs and space wolves....in most cases, tyranids will just dominate chaos like the space wolves would dominate the bugs. I'm not saying that Chaos can't win, but it's an uphill battle for them in most cases.

What other hard counters do the Tyranids have?

My buddy and I play a couple times a week and my bugs always beat his chaos regardless of how well he rolls.. For example, last night I swear his Plague Marines were invincible, but I still ended up killing off his whole army O.o

I also had drank about 8 beers by the time we filmed the second game! hahaha, that is a big part of the reason why I was goofing up.

Frankie's list stunk, and he knows it. Funny though, just splitting that Nurgle unit into 2, makes it such a better list. 2 Hell Turkeys, too, and it is solid.

Christian's list is bad ass. He is an excellent list builder and this is no exception.

My dice did blow the second game but oh well, that is a part of the game.

Nids hate Mech Dark Eldar so much. JotWW/Missile Wolves is tough, too.

Hate is inadequate to describe it.

GK still have some pretty good tools for dealing with Tyranids, but the new self-buffs available from the rulebook psychic powers can help quite a bit.

Yeah, Venomspam is pretty much the worst match-up possible for Nids.

GK are still bad, I agree, but like you said, the new Psychic Buffs go a long way to mitigating that, as does the ability to tar pit scary GK units in Fearless Gants.
