Been a 40k and WHFB player for a long time, but ive got behind on WHFB and the latest edition.
Was wondering if someone could simply answer a question for me as im waiting on the rule book turning up, but want to get started on a model.

If a BSB is given a magic banner and a mount, does the bonus confer to the mount?
Also, if there are additional crew on the same mount, would they also benefit from its effects?

For example;

Skaven chief BSB with skaven banner (gives frenzy to the unit)
Would it simply confer a bonus to just him, or would the stegadon mount and all four other crew members gain the bonus from this?

Wanted to make a large stegadon banner carrier as a centerpiece, but didnt want to get too involved in it yet if it wont have much of an effect.

There banner affects the whole UNIT, and i wasn't able to find any FAQ against it, so yes.

Frankly, if you're taking a skink BSB *and* giving him a magic banner *and* putting him on the Steg, I'll salute you and let you try whatever it is you wanna try!

Without looking at the exact wording of the banner, I agree with HoverBoy. Doesn't seem out of whack for what you get either.

If you were looking for effectiveness, I'd consider giving him a normal banner and some protective stuff- charmed shield, 4+ ward vs. first wound, or dawnstone all come to mind.

Regardless, I think it'd be a super sweet centerpiece model.

Yes, the Banner's effect would effect his mount and anybody else in the unit. Provided the effect is one that can do something like that.

Opens up a few ideas.

Main idea was simply to create a large banner bearing stegadon since i still play a southlands style skink army. (lost my horned one riders though :K)

Even something like the banner to give them frenzy gives them a bit more effectiveness.
However, armour piercing skinks and a stegadon sounds rather nice too.
Even more so if the bonus from that passes onto the giant blowpipes on it

Sadly armour piercing from the banner only helps close combat :(

I always thought it would be fun to have a Banner of Eternal Flame skink BSB riding around on a Terradon. Drop in to give a unit of blowpipes flaming right when they open up on a regenerator...

Or join other Terradons to drop flaming rocks!

Also thinking of making a carnosaur with skink crew (3 chiefs?) to use as an oldblood.

Got 2 steggs, 2 ancient steggs and an engine in the army so far, but more big monsters are allways fun
