I think this is the right place for it so I'll ask it here. Sorry if its the wrong place. I know the Lost and the damned are basically mutants, demons and some marines but where can I get rules for them? Can you play with the army in regular turnaments? I hear of people using them but the rules on GW's site seems more like a different game all together than an actual 40k army. Thanks, Rich

You can get the list in the Codex: Eye of Terror. As far as I know they are legal to play. Some tournys have some restrictions on what you can take, but not all do.
Can anyone back me up on that?
I play the LatD and I really like them. Not the easiest to play, but can be fun if you like to convert and such.

The only back-up I can give is the wording in the Eye of Terror codex. "Not only can these army lists be used during the Eye of Terror campaign, but they can be used for 'ordinary' games of Warhammer 40,000 as well." So, I see how some tournaments could consider their games not 'ordinary' games and disallow the LatD.

You'll also need the Chaos Space Marine Codex, and possibly the Imperial Guard codex as well.

I play Lost and the Damned.....Get the Codex Eye of Terror First and read throught he units. Find out what you want, maybe by proxying some models and play testing or get a small force first......You will definitely need the Chaos Codex, an probably the Imperial Guard (depends on your style of play). They are tourny legal and usually do fairly well. They are a very flexable and fun list to play.
I usually run 50 mutants or so in 3 squads, then get some traitors with a heavy weapon so I can take a Leman Russ. I also field a defiler and The Aspiring Champions kick arse because you can hide them in squads and they aren't independent characters.....nothing like taking 20 plague zombies led by and aspiring champion with Mark of Nurgle and Manreaper......
Have fun. Soup

I play Black Legion right now and want to try a nurgle army which is what brought this on. I dont know how many times I have read through the CSM codex. I figure it wouldnt take much to use what I have now and just supplement them with mutants and IG.

Forgive the thread necromancy but I figured this was still relevant. Apparently now, with the new CSM codex LaTD is illegal... Which is a shame because they seem awesome.
Can anyone confirm this?

Yes sorry, LatD are illegal now. A lot of people now use them as Chaos-themed Guard armies or convert them to Daemons.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Witchhunters can do a decent job at proxying as well, assuming zealots are legal where you play (they are not legal for US GT, which kills my plans personally)

I'm curious about this too, since I'm considering a Traitor Guard force. Right now I'm planning to use standard the standard Imperial Guard rules, with Allied Witchhunters to provide unit diversity. I'm still not clear on whether or not fielding them as a "funny-looking Guard" army is tournament legal, however. (I've only looked over the local tournament rules so far, but they specify using the Eye or Terror codex for LatD - a book I've been unable to obtain so far.) I'm also curious about where such an army would fall in a "campaign" tournament, or with regard to the Apocalypse Allies Chart I've seen.
Is it possible to use the Adversaries section from the Witchhunters' or Daemonhunters' codex? These looked like they'd probably work well when applied to an IG force (as long as you don't want to include Chaos Space Marines - I don't remember seeing any of those). On the other hand, it sounded like these rules weren't intended for tournaments - I seem to remember them saying something like, "the opponent of a <Witch or Daemon>hunter force may include the following units", meaning the list would only be valid for facing particular opponents.
Is there any provision for creating IG-CSM allied forces to represent traitors, like the rules for adding units from either of the Inquisition groups to IG or SM armies? (I didn't spot any in the CSM codex, but I haven't found a copy of either the fourth or fifth edition rulebooks yet, so I'm not familiar any more general allied forces rules that exist.)

You can paint your witchhunters/IG anyway you want and call them renegades or anything. But thats about as much as you can get away with as LotD nowdays.
