I've played 40k since ~2004, but I recently sold off all my models. I had only played codex marines and deathwing, and with the new codex out, I sold everything. I'm in general sick and tired of MEQ armies, and if I choose to continue playing this game, then I want a non-meq army. It doesn't even need to be competitive, but nothing that is even remotely close to space marines. Thoughts?

Dark Eldar. You'll go from everything being tough and well armored to being frail but hard hitting and fast and having to make the most of both of the latter to succeed.

Plus the model range is fantastic and looks like fun to paint.

That's a nice suggestion. I know nothing of Dark Eldar because surprisingly I've only ever played against them once. That actually sounds fun. Thanks!

Ig or orks........ all da boyz, all da dakka, all da time.... horde plays almostt the exact opposite of MEQ ( Survivability? LOL WHATS THAT! Conscripts to the rescue!), and who needs all that girly armour anyways..... both are a magnet for the Mechboy/treadhead in us all.. pricey though

for tyranids, you have a mix of the big monsters and hordes of small infantry. Not to mention all the fun you can have with psychic choirs. Bit of a challenge to play but still a lot of options. Not shooty as marines but they can be beasts in cc. Their models are very different from marine models, all grown and intergrated weapons and a much grater organic feel vs the solid standard issue marine armies.Nnot to mention there's nothing funnier then completely covering a board with spawned gaunts.

Well, I'd like to know, what army do you play? We were supposed to guess, right?

But all seriousness aside...

You could go for any that aren't MEQ. Eldar (both flavors), Tyranids, Orks, Tau, and even Necrons aren't as MEQ as they used to be. They're all decent choices.

Armies: Space Marines, IG, Tyranids, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Dark Eldar.

I think I'll look into orks or dark eldar. I used to admire red sunz orkz when they had the last codex, but I don't know how viable that is now.

Tyranids, for sure.

You can get Large monsters, and a mix of Horde. They are a blast to play as well, and the models are just top notch. You have a varity of ways you can play them, too. You can play them Horde, TMC Spam, MIx, Flyer Heavy, and Psychic heavy. Of course, any combination of those.

They are expensive though, and generally take a lot of models, so I would keep that in mind.

Tyranids and Orks are decent in the new edition.
You could also give Tau a try, since they will get a new codex soon.
Eldar are outdated and DE is tricky to play.
