Hey all, looking at the codex and I notice a bunch of the special HQs (O'Shovah, O'Shaserra) say they can be used in Tau armies of 1500+ points. How does this interact with allies rules? Does it simply mean I can't take him/her/them?
Thanks!

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.

Nobody knows. Context says you must have a Tau army of 1500 points. Most (if not all) people will be fine with allowing it as long as the army total is 1500 pts. At a Tournament check with the TO.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Well going off the space wolves faq, I'd say that you need 1500 points of allies to include farside or whoever.

It's never been updated. So long as your whole army is 1500 points or more, including both primary detachment and allied detachment, you should be fine. Only the most butthurt will bother you about it.

Good job remaining civil.
The space wolves faq was updated to clarify that a space wolf army is any army primary or allied detachment. The tau codex says tau army, that leads me to think you need 1500 points of tau in the list to get these characters.

Please stick to the topic without the sweeping generalisations.

I'm not seeing that in the FAQ. Quote?

Q: Does the The Leaders of the Pack special rule still apply to Space Wolves taken as an Allied detachment? (p81)
A: Yes.
Leaders of the pack says "In a space wolves army...."
Hence an army is either.
