In my 40k CSM army, I want to include an Imperial Bastion. I'd like to model the Bastion as a kind-of Alchemist's Lab or Tower, which leads me to my questions:

1) Does anyone know of any good alternative models to the Imperial Bastion? Bonus points if it already looks a little more like an Alchemist's Lab.

2) If I have to use the GW Imperial Bastion, one thing that I know I want to add are big chimney-like pipes, either sticking straight up out of the top or coming out of one of the walls and curving to point up. I've never made anything like this before, and was wondering if anyone has any pointers on what materials I could use and how I could make them.

3) This last question is just a general call-out for more ideas on how to make a chaosy-loking Alchemist's Lab. Any and all ideas welcome.

Have you looked at the fantasy buildings from GW? I don't know how they compare sizewise but this might be of interest.

As for the pipes depending on the desired size plastic straws could work especially those with bendy parts to curve them easily.

One of the Cities of Death buildings has the curving and straight big pipes you want. Wouldn't be difficult to use Cities of Death bits to mimic a bastion's dimensions. And covering/converting the obviously imperial bits into something more chaotic wouldn't be that hard.

Yeah, the GW fantasy terrain is pretty cool, but I'm fairly concerned about making sure the building has approximately the same dimensions as the Imperial Bastion. As for the pipes, I want a mix of small and large, so using straws is a great idea for the smaller pipes.

As for Cities of Death, any specific building I should be looking for?
