Hi all, since I haven't posted any work in a good long while, I thought I'd add some of my most recent works

Night Lords Raptors and Chaos Marines.

Grey Knight Brotherhood Champion. Based off the Emperor's Champion model, with extra GK accessories, based on a lava rock.

Vindicare Assassin. I'm particularly pleased with the Chaos Star I managed to paint on the helmet at his feet. I managed to paint it in blue with a yellow highlight, which was very tricky to achieve at such a small scale.

And lastly, an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor. I fancied something a bit different with this one, as I had never painted a black character before. I'm particularly fond of the contrasting colours on this guy.

All comments appreciated for these.

I like your stuff. Especially the black inquisitor, it's nice to see a little ethnic diversity.

Few tips. (Hope I don't come across all negative.)

Night lords I love, but the reds seem a little flat. The flames should be reversed - i.e. lighter nearer the centre, then yellow, orange, then red highlights as the centre mass will be the hottest.

The GK champion's white seems way too thick, it seems to be making the model look 'lumpy'. Like the lava base, but it needs to be pushed more, get more lighter colours nearer the lava.

Vindicare Assasin, like the idea. Like the fact you've used different varnishes on the suit to the equipment, can't see the chaos star you refer to though. There are one or two spots on the suit you've gone over with the brown. Love the rifle.

Inquisitor, good set of colours, but once again let down a little with thick paints, especially noticable on the whites again.

Improvement by practice, I reckon. You seem to have a good eye for colour, but thinning your paints more and adding more, thinner coats will give you a better finish than one or two thicker ones. Even so, a good table-top quality job.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Do you thin down your paints or add flow aid to them? It will make the paint south easier to work with.

@Conrad: Don't worry about being negative, that's what this forum's about.

The Grey Knights were from about a year ago. They were my first attempt to paint white over large areas, whereas before I had only used it for small details. In reality it doesn't look as thick, I think the camera has somewhat exaggerated the effect a bit, but I agree, they could have been a lot thinner. As for the Vindicare, I agree that the brown/black borders could use a bit of touching up, and for those who can't see it, the Chaos Star is on the orange helmet in the photo of him from behind.

I was at a bit of a loss when it came to the flames. Often when you see flames painted on figures they're usually done either way. I used references to real fire to base my ideas on, mainly using my lighter, but it didn't really help much, as the flame was completly yellow.

On a side note, I'm planning on using the guy with the mutated-fire-arm as a Plasma Gunner. In your opinion would this be an ok counts-as or would you have a problem with it?

Thanks for the ideas guys, keep the comments coming!

White is one of the hardest colors to paint well. I use very thin white paint so I have more control but that makes the process more labor intensive.

You also have to decide if you are going to go with subtle shading, using a bone color; or use black in the crevasses. I like the black look.
