Having a tough time deciding who should sport the khorne banner on my army so it is between 18 warriors with halberd and 3 Skullcrushers.

At first I thought the crushers should get it since they are only 3 models and are more prone to be locked in combat with some large unit with ranks making it that they should in the worst case scenario do 4-5 wounds and took none to keep their frenzy rule, however talking with a friend of mine, he says that if you take a few wounds you are probably 1 crusher down and you are paying an expensive banner to keep frenzy on 2 models. Which seems logical. Still wanted to know the dakka opinion, hell maybe i shouldn't even use it at all

CSM 10k points
IG 3k points
Orks 2k points
WoC 3.5k points
VC 2.5k points

Well, Frenzy adds +1 Attack per model, but due to the regular combat rules, that only applies to models that are based up with enemy models (front rank normally).

If you're looking for bank for the buck on the banner, put it on a unit that you plan on having a wide frontage, especially if that frontage is made up of smaller sized bases. If you want extra killiness, make sure it's a unit that has a high Strength so the additional attacks have the most effect.

Just spit-balling here, but I think maybe the way you get the absolute most out of this is to have it on Warriors who are accompanied by a durable character with the stubborn crown. That way you fight to the last and have frenzy all the way to the bitter end.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

The banner only works if you are already frenzied, and lose combat.
50 points to plan on losing is a lot to spend just to regain frenzy.
I think you'd be better off with the armor piercing banner, it would help you not lose combat in the first place.
With Ld8 base, taking an item that only works after you have been beaten is a bad plan.

Every new army books gets a least 1 item that won't see the battlefield. IMO, it's this banner.

Isn't it only 25 points?

Though your point is definitely still valid.

Ah, I'm off, that it was 50. I still don't want to waste 25 points and a magic banner on planning to lose combat.
I'd rather stick the banner of discipline in for the better Ld on the stubborn character.

If you don't have a stubborn character in the unit, you're really risking losing the whole unit from losing combat before the banner kicks in.
If you do have the stubborn character in the unit, I'd rather be more stubborn.
