Well, I was surprised at how much better the DV minis are compared to previous starter boxes for 40k. They're a little more like Space Hulk than Black Reach, and that's a very good thing.

Anyway, here's the Hellbrute done up in Night Lord colors:

Looking great; but I think that the fleshy thighs is a little too flesh tone for my liking! Great paint job - but a little outside my style

The cool thing is how convertible the multi-melta arm is for weapon swaps. You can sooooo easily add twin-linked lascannon or autocannon barrels in the place of the melta ones, and I have seen a good one that used the end of a Plasma Cannon, too, with fleshy bits out of green stuff to meld it together.

I like the Nght Lords colors! I think the darker tones of the flesh bits are just right.

All the Chaos models in the DV set make me sad that I don't have any time at all for a small Chaos force, when my Space Wolves, Eldar and Deathwing aren't even done yet.

I think the Night Lords abhor mutations, but I like the paintjob a lot anyway. Love the gold and the lightning

You are correct. The Nightlords are just basically renegades. If memory serves, the Emporer sent the Haunter and his force out to a battle and when it went south, the Emporer blamed it on the Nightlords and they went to the chaos gods and asked for the things to get revenge on the Emporer, but refused to worship chaos.

Paint job looks great by the way!

Epic... The only problem I have with it are the four central horns.. They're too plain in line with how epic the rest of the model is!!!

Thanks.

The very fleshy style is a little outside of what the norm is for painting these guys, but I really liked how the mini went between the two styles, and wanted to emphasize that in this mini.

Very nice - I like the use of the bone white, it really helps to make it pop out a bit.

Great mini as always

Wonderfully done! I think you pulled it off quite well. The fleshy tones contrast well with the blues. I know Nightlords don't much like the mutations, but they cannot escape it forever when the enter the warp. Recently read a short story in the novel "Treacheries of the Space Marines" (I think that was the one. The Nightlords leader in that story was a deamonprince, even though the main Nightlords character hated him

Thanks Nemissary. I suppose it isn't like the fluff never changes anyway.
