Assuming that it is too expensive to give your CSMs ubergrit, what normal weapons would you pair with the special weapons?

Plasma seems obvious to pair with bolters, but I'm unsure about melta or flamers. Do you keep the bolter or swap it for the +1A in close combat since they are both assault weapons?

you need not give an entire squad ubergrit. You can half and half if you want.

Hmmm. You're right, the thought never crossed my mind.
It might be an interesting compromise.

ubergrit means you have both bolters and cc weapons?

Yeah, bolters, ccw and bolt pistols. It's what Chaos Marines had in the previous codex.

Either way, make sure you bring an autocannon in the squad.

With the new FAQ on ranges, you don't want to have your bolters only kill 1-2 models if that ork hoard is 24" away. Add that autocannon so all your bolters can kill past 24" into the squad.

Q: When making a Shooting attack against a unit, can Wounds
from the Wound Pool be allocated to models that were not within
range any of the shooting models when To Hit rolls were made (i.e.
half the targeted model are in the shooting models’ range, and half
are not)? (p15)
A: No

doesn't that mean the bolters can still not cause wounds to models 25"?

not if there is a 48" autocannon in the squad.

Yes, its supid but thats the way it works.

If you have one autocannon in the squad, all the bolters can magically kill targets up to 48" away (provided at least one target is within 24")

Why would that really matter? It's not like that Ork horde is going to reach you next turn anyway. Honestly that just seems like an unnecessary attempt to game the system. If you want the squad to have an autocannon, then give it an autocannon, but doing it to circumvent that FAQ ruling is silly.

you gotta feed me the line so that I can tell my opponents this. It sounds like a lot of bullsh1t

I run my Bolters with Plasma Guns, bolt pistols and CCWs with Flamers and Meltas. My preference is to specialize instead of generalize.
