Hi All, I've been a LooooooonG Time lurker on Dakka , and I thought it was about High time , I registered and disengaged the cloaking device.

I'd just like to bring to your attention a Kickstarter that my good friends Craig and Dale at Critical mass games started yesterday, (08th of feb,)
It may be of interest, it may not? I'll let you decide.

Wow those look really nice for 15mm! I'll post some pics over for those who haven't looked at the link.

Incidentally I know Antenociti have just started a 15mm range (of vehicles and buildings) that look like they might go well with this?

Thanks Pacific,
Having seen most of the range in the flesh , I can say, that they are indeed , 15mm scale lol.

Craig was my Best man and I've known him a good few years but he still likes to keep me outta the loop lol.

I know CMG also produce a range of Buildings and have a cracking rule set, called funilly enough "critical mass".
We play it quite a lot at our local wargames club.
and I know CMG have done a lot with Rob Fitton of GRUNTZ fame.

Regards Rik.

Hey Bedlam, thanks for bringing this KS to my attention I have a lot of respect for CMG's work, they create some fantastic 15mm miniatures. Silly question is there any chance other factions will be offered as pledge rewards, say as some sort of "equal exchange" that can be arranged after the KS ends/outside of KS?

Would love me a small Protolene army, been eyeing those up for while.

I would love to back this but they are asking for me to fill in a load of info that is already existent in my Kickstarter and PayPal accounts, and I can't be bothered.

Tough.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Well, I'm on a 15mm kick at the moment, so I thought I'd throw some money behind this.

Well that's the way KS has chosen to go for the UK projects

apparently UK CC processors can handle pledges that come due in the 'future', whereas in the USA only Amazon was willing/able to do so....

I suspect KS get to keep more of the fees this way so can't see it changing so if you ever hope to back a UK project you'll have to do it

Just wanted to drop by and say thanks to those of you that have pledged so far and made our first Kickstarter such a brilliant success, we couldn't have done so well with out your help. We still have 23 days to go and have some awesome things lined up included some new additions to the line currently being designed John Bear Ross. Sorry I can't tell you more right now but as soon as I can I will. Regards Dale

I'll keep an eye on this. The 15mm scene sorely needs more gunships.

I love 15mm sci-fi but so far I haven't gotten around to getting any Critical Mass Games stuff. The Galacia looks really cool though. Including worldwide shipping is just brilliant too.

New stretch goal mechs are close to being reached. I think you folks are going to like them.

15mm sci-fi could be fun... I gonna watch this to see if any designs appeal.

The infantry models are very nice, but I have no interest in 15mm. I like 15mm in theory because you can show larger ranges, show bigger vehicles that would be cost-prohibitive to make, and you such much greater variety in infantry figures, but in this case, the tanks look too big, bulky and blocky and the dropship looks too large, and dumb too.

The mech do look good though, very modern sci-fi

Pledge for the infantry, then acquire the rest from other manufacturers. It's what I'm doing

I've been keeping an eye open for some 15mm sci-fi stuff recently and I like the look of these. Plus it looks like Khurasan is on hiatus for a few weeks.

The tone of the thread seems to be favourable towards CMG, but I haven't come across them before. I take it that these guys are reliable? Has anyone in North America used them?

They are longtime clients of mine, so I'm biased. I do know that their checks don't bounce!

Craig and Dale, seriously, though, are stand-up guys.

If you google through a few 15mm forums, like on TMP (don't know if those three initials are dirty words around here), you'll find they have a solid rep. http://www.criticalmassgames.com/ is their main site.

Best,
JBR

No real issues with TMP here. TMP has more of a historicals and small press focus than Dakka, but i haven't seen any animosity.

Everything I've heard about Critical Mass Games has been good. Tons and tons of threads about them on TMP with no mentions of any issues.

I've been after some nice 15mm models for some time as I've been very slowly working on a squad/platoon level 15mm scale rule set of my own, I guess this is as good an excuse as any to get some models so I can play test without having to remember which penny is a rifleman and which has a heavy weapon.

Just pledged at the Company Commander level.

Between this, Nuclear Renaissance and Warzone Chronicles I seem to be on a massive kickstarter binge at the moment.

Special weapons funded too.

kickstarter update

Got some nice renders of the command turret for the existing Tank/IFV chassis which are really tempting me to up my pledge or at least buy one or two as extras.

The 10K stretch goal is met, so the gents at CMG have become mech weapons dealers.

http://johnbearross.blogspot.com/2013/03/cmg-kickstarter-update-you-cant-have.html

Now, obviously, you'd have to buy a pair of mechs to do paired extra weapons. Just to clarify.

Just as a follow-up, please pardon the thread-necromancy, but I believe that Kickstarters should not just be open-ended fund requests.

Here's what you get, as well..

My Zas Kickstarter package arrived from the Critical Mass Games gentlemen in the UK.

Here's the initial unboxing and cleanup...

Here's assembly of the first Ravager, a jump-assault mech.

That looks really good!

15mm seems like a neat scale full of small, interesting companies and products... is Khurasan still in business, and just on vacation? It seems every time I check their site, they're on vacation, and parts of it are down...

I hadn't heard of Critical Mass games before, so thanks for posting the above

Khurasan Jon had to take a mid-month business trip, and is catching up with orders now. He should be open again soon.

Critical Mass Games are a pair of great gentlemen in the UK.

Both put out great work, and are both clients of mine (full disclosure).

Best,
JBR
