I'm having a hard time modelling a casualty for bases/objective markers. I was trying with IG and Space Marines (Loyalists and Chaos), has anyone seen a tutorial on how to pose them. I found an awesome tutorial for making gore, but can't find anything on actually modelling the body. Thank you in advance.

Search for WW2 casualty images?
Most of the time people just drop and carry on with any momentum they were having. With this in mind try to visualise what they would do in a position when felled.

For one of my markers i´ve used a scout-arm with closecombat weapon, the rest is just a random heap of gore made out of crunched peanut flips mixed with a lot of white glue. Afterwards i painted it mephiston red with a blue/purple wash. Looks good enough for me!

Tommse, that sounds pretty good and kind of what I was going to do as a last resort. I was also thinking about taking a marine body with no backpack pointing the head up and having one arm attached. Then crushing up plastic parts for the legs with all the gore over it so you can't tell there were legs there and one arm that is just gore now with maybe a bolter or chainsword where it was.
Blaggard, I think my problem is that I may be trying to make them too realistic. I served as mounted infantry in Iraq almost 10 years ago, and so I know what bodies are supposed to look like. But its hard getting the plastic to do those things.

I didn't know of your experience but if anyone were to search and find this thread it may be helpful.
Perhaps a overly dramatic action pose? Something like the the 1:47 in this.

That would be amazing! I'm not terribly great at GS, I'm still learning (I've only been modeling for about half a year now). That's the sort of pose that would be legendary. Just not sure how to get the joints to work that way from how they come standard.

GW sells SM casualties models. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440277a&prodId=prod1600080a
EDIT: If you don't want to buy these, then using the Assault marine legs could work. They're kind of bent, and cutting off one of the chainswords/bolt pistols and replacing it with a banner could work.

Yeah, I'd rather not go that route. They're pretty expensive and I have tons of extra bits that I would rather make them out of if possible. I purchased the pig iron casualties for IG and they're horrible. The waist of one of them was almost as big around as his bicep (meaning that it was tiny, looked like he would fall in half if he stood up). I was just wondering if anyone had done this themselves and maybe had some hints/tips about how to do it.

Marines would probably endy up dying in a funny pose anyway. Damage to the armour combined with final pre-death brain activity is likely to do weird things to the armour servos and muscle fibres. Also given the hard shell its also difficult for Marines to lie in a limp manner as an un-armoured person would.
