In the CSM codex the Defiler does not have an option of taking another Defiler, this is also the case with all heavy support units except the havocs and obliterators. So can you only take one of each heavy support unit???

Wait what? the only limit on units are the points and foc charts unless specified by the codex. unless you think you take them in squadrons.

Oh OK. I'm just making sure because it does have a max number of units you can have for your troops. ex. you can only have a total of 15 possessed space marines. But is this for squad composition?

You can have up to three per FOC. You can only have one in each hs slot there is no option for then in a squadron. It's the same for all those hs options.

Each HS choice uses up a slot. The unit composition is how many models in the unit. So for example, you could take 3 units of Possessed Space Marines and each squad can be anywhere from 5 to 20 models. If a vehicle allows for multiple models to be chosen, it will have a unit composition of, for example, 1-3 War Walkers.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yes. You're confusing 'unit' and 'model'.

Those 15 possessed models make up a single unit. You can take as many units as you have FOC slots for, unless they unit has a specific restriction on how many you can take.

And now that your question has been answered, i would go post over in the "Tactics" Board and have them tell you why taking three defilers is a bad idea.
