So the Dark Eldar Tantalus says that when it turbo boosts over an enemy unit it causes automatic hits. It states units take D6 S7 AP2 hits and enemy vehicles take an automatic S7 2D6 Armor Penetration AP2 hit.

So if the Tantalus moves over an enemy flyer does it have the option to cause the auto mini-melta type hit?

Of because its a flyer your cant auto hit. Thats what I am assuming.

No it is not a flyer it is a fast skimmer. But its attack isnt really like a vector strike as it is from the apocolype book making its wording non-congruent with current wordings.

It simply states it inflicts an automatic hit on a vehicle it passes over.

Considering the very long list of things that "automatically hit" in the game that have been FAQed to not work on Fliers, I'd throw the Tantalus in with them.

Can you turbo boost over a flyer? Or would you turbo boost under it?

Technically it would be over as Skimmers and Flyers move over any models their movement overlaps.

Surely a skimmer could not get higher than a flyer in the first place, i'd have to go to the no camp on this.

As above. It auto-hits, so it’s a no-go per the FAQ.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they FAQ it later to allow it though, as it’s mechanically similar to Vector Striking, and they allow that. OTOH, Vector Striking is done by Swooping FMCs, and GW might just as easily reason that a Skimmer doesn’t fly as high as a Zooming Flyer or SFMC, and explicitly say the Tantalus can’t do the hit to a flyer.

Locking this as fundamentally duplicative of the other two active threads on hitting Zooming Flyers/Swooping FMCs.
