Cant believe I hadnt seen this little gem sooner. Dont Starve is one of those "Throw you in a randomly generated world with no instructions and you have to survive as long as possible" type games with a very nice art style (Think Nightmare Before Christmas)

Everything is out to kill you! Even the trees might uproot themselves and chase you down to squash you! (Thankfully rare though) And you better not be in the dark, lest you want to get eaten or go insane. Its currently in Beta and new stuff is continuously getting pumped out (in fact Feb 12 was the latest update)

Remember, Dont Starve!

Total Biscuit did a WTF is.. on not long ago.
The trailers made me a little hyped for this but after watching TB I lost interest in this..

Well, it'll just be easier to leave this one here:

System has changed though from the updates. That vid was made in september (hah he never had to worry about the Sanity meter!), I never played the original release of it though I suppose

For example (either they got rid of it, or it was made optional), you no longer have to sacrifice a ton of material for science points. Just build the science machine and done.

Though yes the game is unforgiving and it does not tell you things. I had to go to the wiki to find out how to get charcoal. And the tools are somewhat limited. Only 2 versions (normal tool, and a x4 durable one that needs gold) so material wise they could expand.

Here are some of the update vids

Ahh man I actually got screwed over by the Insanity update. Got killed, popped out of Meat Effigy, and then got slain by imaginary monster. Doing so well to, day 50 or so, 2 beehives, bunch of farms. Sigh

Then again maybe for the better? I never had to worry about food, never had to worry about 90% of the material by that point. Perhaps I got too comfortable....

Woah, its out? I put it on my Steam wishlist months ago, but hadn't heard any news. Hmn, may give it a shot, but it does come across as something to pick up in a sale (which its no doubt fodder for), which isn't a bad thing.

Its still in beta but it is also on Steam, its where I got my copy.

Its an OK game but the pacing isn't very good and once you get established there really isn't very much to do.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Yea true i suppose, the fact that perma death is on means I'm super afraid to do ANYTHING outside an easily reachable distance

Though according to the wiki they do start ramping up the difficulty as time goes on, the hounds for example start to spawn in larger and larger packs with more and more hellhounds and the Treemen get much bigger

The way the system is theres not much in the department of building (aside from mazes) so unlike say Minecraft or Terreria you cant just build something on a whim to show how awesome you are of an architect

I kind wished rocks werent so valuable though, wouldnt mind wasting a bunch of it to make a super awesome stone maze. Also wished there was a way to get more Mandrakes
