Subject: Most powerful wizard?

Recently I have been experimenting with the Battle Wizards of the Empire, to find the most powerfull overall. Though I understand they can be rather limited, I still find them really awesome and threatening.
So what is the most powerful overall build? And the most powerful, even if it is against a specific enemy or type of enemy?
Any advice and insight to the arcane is much appreciated!

Teclis. /thread Empire-wise: depends on the armies you face. Face a lot of heavily-armored enemies, metal works fine. Does nothing vs. Goblins.

Metal does loads versus goblins. There's one spell (and the sig) that wound off of the target's armour save. All the others are either augments or hexes, and there's one nuke that kills 1/3rd of whatever unit you hit. I always run a level 4 with Metal with my Empire list and I rarely ever use the signature spell. Glittering Scales, Enchanted Blades, and Transmutation of Lead are where it's at!
With Battle Wizards it's all about the combinations. I run a level 4 with Metal and a level 2 with Heavens for some Iceshard Blizzard, Transmutation goodness. Having one or two level 1 Wizards with just the signature spells of whatever lores you pick is great too. Another nasty combination on your block of State Troops is Glittering Scales from Metal with Earthblood from a level 1 with Life. My swordsmen will have a 3+ armour save with a 5+ regen...
I tend to favour more powerful defensive spells so Iceshard Blizzard, Earthblood, Wyssan's Wildform, etc... are all good. Try experimenting with various lores and see how they work together.

Most powerful wizard? Generic Slaan. Whilst they don't have the raw casting power of teclis, for the same cost they get to reroll miscasts, make you miscast, make you discard all sixes, gain extra dice when casting, have a higher toughness, more wounds, a ward save, and can be your BSB and general.
Best Empire wizard build? That depends on the list. The greatswords list requires lore of light. The generic footslogging build requires shadow. The maxed out demis build should take a level 4 metal and a level 4 shadow.

Yeah I know Slann are the most powerful in the game. I was just curious about Empire Specifically. I have seen many Level 4 with Metal and Level 2 with ligh Light though.
I just like the human wizards a lot, it's a shame they cannot be more powerful. Though, it of course doesn't pertain to the Lore so much. I still think it'd be cool if they were almost like a different race, such as the Lord of The Rings style wizards.
Anyways though, I am curious what is the most effective 2 Wizard list and what they will have? Like all comers, and would it be better off to take a Wizard and General or Warrior Priest or something.

Empire generals add nothing to the army bar their leadership. Dual wizards works really well. Shadow/Metal works. The metal wizard is your general and has the earthing rod, the shadow wizard has a scroll. For core, you take 30 handgunners and 30 crossbows, and then take 15 demigryphs.

i gotta vote in a lvl 4 slaughtermaster... the guy is a powerhouse. he can cast, AND he can fight and expect to live. empire wise... well i suppose as said it depends what you want and who your fighting. the best power of the empire mages is pure versatility. they can pick any lore, be lvl 4 at it and pretty much do their thing. they cant take a hit... but they are cheap in comparison to the SM.
i was toying with the idea of using a lvl 4 life mage and a lvl 4 death or shadow to buff my own men, and debuff the other guys for lots of fun.

for empire. I'd like to run a level 4 shadow, a lvl 2 beasts and a lvl 1 death.
A lot of big stuff dies to spirit leech.
I want Wyssians, and almost every other spell from beasts has utility. Except flock. Plus I can have a cool monster on my display board.
I like halbihorde. it needs to go first in combat with the hatred. The signature spell helps with that, while light's is not signature.
