Instead of using the only Necron model for crypteks, anyone have any suggestions for converting a Cryptek? Also, anyone know of any third party shops selling any models I could use for the Crypteks?

Triarch Praetorians with Deathmark heads is a common one. Or even just using the staves on Warriors.

Probably not an option for you due to cost, but when the local chain of game stores recently dumped all of their GW for half off, I picked up several of the Necron character models to use as Crypteks and Overlords.
You can also try to locate the original Necron Lord models from the 2nd Edition 40K.

"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

Thanks for the replies. I would rather kitbash them than pay for those high priced finecast models.

Awesome conversion. What parts did you use?

I used warriors and the spare parts from the lych guard box (the parts which are used for the praetorians).

i feel that praetorians look better but would not want to buy another box for a few crypteks. this is in my opinion a cheap and decent alternative.
