I just started watching this series and I like it. Kind of Batman the TV series using Green Arrow as a surrogate, but still a fun and entertaining show. Much better than some of the other superhero themed live action programs from the past couple of years. Lots of fun easter eggs are hidden throughout the show too.

My only real complaint so far is that the flash backs to the island at times feel like watching an episode of Lost. EDIT: Althought I admit when Crixus showed up in the series I got a little giddy inside

Has anyone else been watching the series, and if so what do you think?

I've been watching it a lot. I even posted my thoughts on it for quite awhile in the Comic Book Discussion thread.

How far into it are you?

Okay, so you're all caught up.

I'm liking the new "vision" of the villains from the DC Universe.
Count Vertigo, Firefly, Merlyn, Deadshot, and all the villains so far have been fairly believable in the context of the universe they're creating.

Gives me high hopes for the "Amazon" series the CW has in the pipeline, introducing a more superhuman slant to the universe. Rumor is they're going to be running both in parallel akin to the Stargate properties.

watched the first 5 or so, rest recorded.

Quite enjoyable, occasionally think things are resolved a little quickly, but certainly has potential. Glad it's been renewed for a 2nd season.

Lots of the villains and supporting characters are named after various writers and artists who've worked on the Green Arrow comics here and there over the years.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I was disappointed Slade wasn't missing an eye, but otherwise I do like it. I don't know enough about the books to catch all the references and who some of the villains are supposed to be though.

I just wish they'd stop stealing Gotham's villains. Firefly was always a batman villain. Really like the show and kinda wish they'd give him a name beyond 'the guy in the hood'. Considering what the media is like that name wouldn't last long...

Haven't seen much of it, just the last few minutes that comes on before Supernatural. Most CW shows I won't waste my time with. It doesn't seem to bad though.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the show; it's solidly entertaining so far.

It's an interesting way to depict Green Arrow -- in this universe, he's like Batman, but without a no-kill policy.

I'm liking it quite a lot, with the caveat that I don't really read comics much (or at all, really) so I can't really compare it to "Actual Comic Book Green Arrow" (...and, other than Deathstroke, I wind up having to google the villains to figure out who their more fantastical counterparts are, like Vertigo and Garfield Lynns. I mean, I figured TV Vertigo's name in the comic was Vertigo, but I assumed in comic book land he was more than a guy who made some trippy drugs and I seem to vaguely recall him as a dude with an eye patch in the 90s Batman cartoon.).

Hasn't he always been a bit like this anyways? I've never known much about GA other than the obvious, but I seem to recall him being a left-wing arrow themed batman... who occasionally put an arrow in someone's eye.

The Green Arrow was originally Batman with a bow and trick arrows instead of all the wacky gadgets.
He even had an "Arrow Plane" and "Arrow Car" at one point in time!

With that said, I think the choice of villains they used has been pretty solid. Green Arrow has never really had a "Rogue's Gallery" of his own that would be strong enough to carry a show attempting to be as realistically grounded as this one is. At least not without having a few "Not Green Arrows" showing up, which would be kind of boring. It's what made the Hooded Bowman from earlier in the season so interesting as he was the exception not the rule.

I loved that they added Roy Harper in starting tonight.

Roy harper... that's speedy/red arrow yes?
Oh don't get me wrong about the villians, I liked them. I just wished they'd stop stealing batman's Didn't realize he didn't have his own rogues gallery that wasn't 'not-green arrow1 and 2'. The only real beef I had was huntress. She's gotham Core. One of the Bat-Kids. Just seems a bit wrong stealing her from Bats. If the Joker ends up with his own GA origin story I'm killing everyone involved I warn all now...:p

Roy Harper is indeed Speedy/Red Arrow.

They've been kind of dropping hints that Harper would arrive, but that he wouldn't be "Speedy" just like Oliver isn't "Green Arrow".
In fact, "Speedy" is the nickname that Oliver gave to Thea when they were kids.

That I know (Thea=speedy). I'm just interested how they'll join forces. It should be an interesting ride

They might just skip the whole "Speedy" bit with Harper and go straight to the "Arsenal" bit.

I hope not. Perhaps straight to Red arrow, but not directly to arsenal. IMO that would be too great and quick a jump.

Tonight's episode had a great little reference regarding Dinah Lance.

"I don't know why my dad ever bought Sarah that canary. All it did all through the night, and boy was it an ugly bird being all black."

And usual spoiler pagebreak begins here...

Spoiler:
Holy shoots. Deadshot is back!

Yea, I only picked up on that afterwards with the canary line, looked up who she was and got a little excited
as for the spoiler... I knew that would be the case. Or at least hoped fervently

So with the Black Canary reference, and then mom showing up and saying Sara might not be dead, odds are that she comes back as Black Canary?
