A little battle to get me used to my Jy2 inspired Nids, simple KPs which favours the GK if they don't get wiped out. Iron arm on both MCs could well be bad news though, along with endurance on a zoan.

1000 points Hive Fleet Hymenoptera

Tyrant Old adversary, 2 TL Devourers, Strategic genius, iron arm, enfeeble

Doom mycetic Spore, Psychic shriek
Zoanthrope Endurance, smite
2 Hive guard

Tervigon Cluster spines, 3 powers, scything talons, adrenal glands, toxin sac, Haemorrhage, iron arm, warp speed
10 gaunts

15 gargolyes Adrenal glands, toxin sacs
1 biovore

1000 points Grey Knights

Coteaz Dust of 1000 worlds, Prescience, perfect timing
Inquisitor Psychic, TDA, psycannon, hammer, Prescience

7 strikes Psycannon, psybolts, halberd
10 strikes 2 Psycannons, psybolts, halberd

Dreadnought 2 TL autocannons, psybolts
Dreadknight Teleporter, hvy incinerator

Will try to get the report up later today.

Make that the next day!

Comedy army shots - check out the spore/dinosaur egg, borrowed off my 3 year old son!

3-3 tie

Dread charges the doom
doom gets a pen and only shakes the dread

Note: dont know if this was the right play - maybe should have split coteaz off to go after and force weapon the Doom.

Nids turn 4
Spoiler:

can they get the tabling this turn? Now the doom cant move the GKs are safer...

iron arm fails on the tervigon
tyrant goes to S9 and T9
zoan doesnt risk another perils and giving a KP away

Nids shooting fluffs
biovore and tervigon scatter off harmlessly
tyrant only kills a single striker

stalemate in assualt as the doom fluffs again - his attacks are as bad as the dreads shooting

Note: Probably should have moved the tervigon back as he didnt have eternal warrior

GK turn 5
Spoiler:

coteaz and co move towards the tervigon

shooting puts a single rend onto the tervigon

This is my type of report!

With Iron Arm on the 2 TMC's (Tyranid monstrous creatures), they can't be force weaponed to death due to Eternal Warrior provided by Iron Arm. Heck, they may even be immune to the psybolt stormbolters if they get up to T9. And then you've got the Doom who will cause havoc to the knights.

I'm going to have to go with the bugs on this one. If played properly, tyranids with Iron Armed MC's do have the potential to table-wipe the knights in this matchup.

Given the armies and Psyker abilities, I was initially ready to jump on board with Tyranids. However, Kill Points, Tyranids, and Tervigons never spell a desirable scenario (9+spawns vs 6!). I'm betting on a draw - not that I believe it'll be a true draw, but quite a close game favoring nobody.

Kill points and Tyranids is just not fun. We rolled up this mission the other night and it completely limits your play.

The only time I would spawn gants was when I was guaranteed to make the charge the same turn so they wouldn't get mowed down from easy shooting.

Called it, didn't I?

Could have been worse for the knights if they hadn't gotten the lucky force weapon against the tervigon because 1) it failed to cast Iron Arm, 2) the striker needed a 6 to wound and 3) had to pass his LD9 psychic test on 3D6 due to Shadows (only 37% chance to pass).

Congrats to the bugs.

Definitely a fun read. Thanks for the report!

Did the Strike Squad try to cast Warp Quake when the Doom came in from reserves? I was actually expecting the Doom to do very little this game.

Some weird luck in that game, but it was a well earned victory.

Indeed you did! A couple of psychic faux pas were made including shadows being forgotten.

Glad you enjoyed...the second psychic slip up was not casting warp quake to push the doom out of range doh. Thanks for spotting that, lesson learnt.

Nids are amazing at low points games, and keep being good overal.

You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand years
Yet have little of account to show for your efforts
Order. Unity. Obedience.
We taught the galaxy these things

And we shall do so again.
